1.    VFS receives NBFC licence from RBI
ü The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) gave Vreedhi Financial Services (VFS) a license to act as a non banking finance company (NBFC). It’s objective is to provide credit and other services to micro enterprises operating in tier two three cities and small towns.

2.    ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi’ initiative
ü Bollywood actress DeepikaPadukone and Badminton player P.V.Sindhu were named as the brand ambassadors of ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi‘ movement.It is an initiative by PM Narendra Modi. The aim of this initiative is to celebrate the contribution & accomplishments of women of the nation for the public good. The hashtag for the initiative is #BharatKiLaxmi.

3.    SouravGanguly takes over president of BCCI
ü Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly, took over as the 39th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) . Prior to his appointment, C K Khanna served as the interim president.

1.    USISPF summit 2019 
ü The US India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) under the delegation of its chairman Mr. John Chambers, called on Prime Minister Shri NarendraModi in New Delhi for the USISPF summit 2019.

2.    QS India University Rankings 2020
ü 2nd edition of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) India University Rankings 2020Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) has again topped all Indian Institutes in the list with an overall score of 88.5 followed by IISc- Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (ranked 2nd with 84.7 score) & Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD),which has improved a notch to rank 3rd with  82.2 scores.

3.    SBI Monthly EMI for debit card customers
ü Pine Labs,an Indian merchant platform company has joined hands with State Bank of India (SBI) to offer EMIs (equated monthly instalments) for debit card transactions.

1.    India’s most polluted city
ü According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) of India, Loni rural (Dehat) of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh emerged as the most polluted city in India with the Air Quality Index (AQI) figures at 358.

2.    Telangana tops in capex on irrigation
ü According to CARE RatingsTelangana was ranked first in terms of expenditure incurred on capital outlay/asset creation (capex) by State governments during 2015-2019 on irrigation in India.
Tamil Nadu spent highest on urban development; Bihar on rural development; Uttar Pradesh in the areas of transport, energy, public health, education and housing and Maharashtra on agriculture.

3.    IMNEX-2019 commences
ü The 2nd edition of India- Myanmar Naval Exercise IMNEX-2019 has begun in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

1.    King and Queen of the Netherlands visit to India
ü King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands visited India.25th edition of DST-CII India Netherlands Technology Summit was held in New Delhi.

2.    91st Interpol General Assembly
ü India will host the 91st International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) General Assembly in 2022. The proposal was made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the Interpol Secretary General Jürgen Stock during a meeting in New Delhi.
ü The 88th General Assembly of Interpol was held in Santiago, Chile from October 15 – 18, 2019.

3.    2019 Army commanders’ conference
ü The 2019 biannual event of the Army Commanders conference was held in New Delhi. Defence minister Rajnath Singh addressed the army officers.
ü The Indian Army launched a new programme called OASIS (Officers Automated Structures Information System). The purpose of this programme is to digitize the official records of the army officers.

1.    NITI Aayogs’ India Innovation Index 2019
ü According to the index, Karnataka ranked as the most innovative state in India. It was followed by TamilNadu and Maharashtra in the second and third places respectively.

2.    University-Industry Linkage Index 2019
ü In the survey conducted by Progress, Harmony and Development Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, Karnataka topped the University-Industry Linkages (UILs) Index 2019 with the score of 7.8 out of 10. Kerala and Gujarat were ranked second and third respectively.

3.    11th Nuclear Energy Conclave 2019
ü The Union Minister of State Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the 11th Edition of Nuclear Energy Conclave 2019 in New Delhi. It was held under the theme “Economics of Nuclear Power- Innovation towards Safer & Cost Effective Technologies”. It was organized by India Energy Forum (IEF).

1.    “Dharma Guardian 2019”
ü  The 2nd joint military exercise ‘Dharma Guardian-2019’  between India and Japan will be held in Mizoram. The event is being held at Counter Insurgency Warfare School located in Vairengte, Mizoram.
2.    ‘Vajra Prahar 2019 ‘
ü  The joint military exercise ‘Vajra Prahar’  between India and the US begins at Seattle’s (in Washington, US) . It is held alternately in India and America. In 2018, the practice took place in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
3.    ADB will provide $190 million loan
ü  The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India (GoI) have signed loan agreement worth $190 million to upgrade 754 kilometers of Rajasthan state highways.
4.    People’s Choice Award 2019
ü  ‘Spirit of Kerala’, a short film based on a boat race from Kerala directed by Arun Joseph, won the People’s Choice Award 2019 at My Rode Reel Film Competition 2019 which is the world’s largest short film competition worth over $1,000,000.
5.    International day for disaster reduction-October 13, 2019
ü  The theme for the year 2019 is “Reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services”.

1.    National e-Assessment Scheme
ü  Revenue Secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey who is also the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) inaugurated National e-Assessment Scheme (NeAS) in New Delhi. This e-Assessment would benefit the Income Tax(IT) department in imparting efficiency, transparency, accountability in the assessment process.

2.    Swiss banks account details to GOI
ü  India has got the first details of accounts of Indian citizens in Swiss banks under the new regular system of automatic exchange of information (AEOI).

2.    National Sports University;Imphal
ü  NBCC India Ltd has signed a MoU with Department of Sports for the development of National Sports University at Imphal, Manipur. The project worth is Rs 400 crore.
3.    IRCTC will pay compensation to passengers on delay
ü  Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will compensate for passengers of the Tejas Express (India’s first private train running on the Lucknow-New Delhi route ) if the train is late.
ü  If Tejas Express runs one hour later than its scheduled time, passengers will be paid Rs 100 and if this train was delayed more than two hoursRs 250 will be given to the passengers.

1.        Railway cleanliness  survey 2019
ü  Three railway stations of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Durgapura have topped the Railway Cleanliness Survey 2019, conducted at 720 railway stations by the Ministry of Railways.
Mumbai’s Andheri, Virar and Naigaon stations have topped the total 109 stations in the category of suburban stations
2.    S. Mallikarjuna Rao -MD and CEO of PNB
ü  S. S. Mallikarjuna Rao was appointed as the MD and Chief Executive of the Punjab National Bank(PNB).  Currently serving as chief executive of the Allahabad Bank.

1.    WTO cuts global trade growth forecast
ü  The World Trade Organisation (WTO) in its report reduced the global trade growth forecast to 1.2% for 2019 from 2.6% due to trade tensions and sluggish global economy.
ü  It is the weakest level in a decade. The global trade growth forecast for 2020 was reduced to 2.7% from 3%.

ü 7th World Hindu Economic Forum (WHEF) 2019 held at Hotel Grand Hyatt  in Mumbai, Maharashtra from 27- 29, September, 2019  with the theme “Prosperous Society: Stronger Society”.
2.   India’s first ‘Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)’
ü Gujarat has launched India’s 1st trading program called “Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)” in Surat, Gujarat to combat particulate air pollution.
ü It  is a market-based system where the government sets a cap on emissions and allows industries to buy and sell permits (in kilograms) to stay below the cap. For this reason, ETS is also called a cap-and-trade market.

ü CEO round-table meet 2019 (September 21, 2019)
In Houston, PM interacted with the CEOs from the US oil and gas sectors. CEOs of 17 global energy companies participated. Also MoU between US natural gas company Tellurian Inc. and Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) of India was signed.
ü PM Modi attended the “Howdy, Modi” event at NRG stadium in Houston, Texas along with the US President Donald J Trump.
ü PM addressed the 74th Edition of United Nations (UN) Climate Action Summit 2019 in New York under the theme “Climate Action Summit 2019: A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win”
ü The India-Pacific Islands Developing States (PSIDS) Leaders’ Meeting was held in New York .He invited leaders to join the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).
ü He extended an invitation to all the leaders for the 3rd Forum for India-Pacific Island Cooperation (FIPIC) Summit to be held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea in first half of 2020.
ü Prime Minister Modi, inaugurated the 50-kilowatt Gandhi Solar Park at the UN Headquarters, New York and Gandhi Peace Garden at State University of New York College.
ü The special commemorative event ‘Leadership Matters: Relevance of Gandhi in the Contemporary World’ was hosted by Modi in New York.
ü  A special UN Postage stamp on Gandhi’s 150 years issued by the UN Postal Administration.
ü India gifted 193 solar panels, one panel each 193 UN member states at UN headquarter.
ü PM Modi received the Global Goalkeeper Award 2019 by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA).

ü United Nations Climate Action Summit 2019 was held in the UN Headquarters in New York, United States in order to meet the urgent need to address climate change; to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and to galvanize action that can limit climate change to 2°C and even to 1.5°C. Luis Alfonso de Alba was the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the 2019 Climate Action Summit.
ü The theme of this summit was “Climate Action Summit 2019: A Race We Can Win. A Race We Must Win”.

2.      RBI  prohibited PMC Bank business transactions
ü  The country’s central bank, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has prohibited Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative Bank Limited (PMC) on business transactions of any kind for the next 6 months following the detection of alleged irregularities. The RBI has taken this action under section 35A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949.
ü  Under this decree, no depositor can withdraw more than 1,000 thousand money from his savings account.

ü  US based research firm Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) in its 6th annual Flavours of Fast report for 2019 rated India’s Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) as the world’s best real-time payment service.
ü  It is an instant payment inter-bank electronic funds transfer system in India managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)
