1) INDIA SINGED 6 AGREEMENTS WITH QATAR:
Ø  India and Qatar signed 6 agreements to increase commercial and economic exchanges between the two nations.
Ø  The deal was signed in New Delhi between the Prime minister of India Narendra Modi and Emir of Qatar, sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Ø  The six agreements were as follows:
Ø  Agreement on transfer of sentenced persons.
Ø  MoU for co-operation in the field of information and communication technology.
Ø  MoU between ministry of earth sciences and Qatar Meteorological department for scientific and technical cooperation.
Ø  MoU between diplomatic institute of MOFA, Qatar and Foreign Service Institute, MEA
Ø  MoU for co-operation in the field of Radio and Television.
Ø  Agreement for Mutual Co-operation and Exchange of News.
Ø  Note:    The deals have a special focus on the make in India Initiative.
Ø  Capital of Qatar – Doha
Ø  Currency of Qatar - Riyal

2)  BIOLOGICALLY USEFUL NITROGEN DISCOVERED ON MARS:
Ø  NASA’s curosity rover found evidence of nitrogen on the surface of mars.
Ø  Nitrogen was found in the form of Nitric Oxide which was released when Martian sediments were heated.
Ø  The Discovery is significant because of the critical role of nitrogen as the building block of RNA and DNA which control life processes.

3)   TWITTER LAUNCHES A NEW APP:
Ø  Twitter launches a new app , ‘ Periscope’.
Ø  Periscope is a streaming video application. It allows anyone to steam live video to a wide audience with their smartphone.

4) MINISTERY OF RAILWAYS CONSTITUTED AJAY SHANKAR COMMITTEE:
Ø  Ministry of Railways has constituted Ajay Shankar committee to review PPP cell functioning.
Ø  Ajay Shankar is a former secretary, Department of Industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) under Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Ø  PPP – Public Private Partnership
      Note:   Suresh Prabhu is the Union Railway Minister

5)  CCEA APPROVED THE NATIONAL SUPER COMPUTING MISSION:
Ø  Union Cabinet committee on Economic Affairs under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the National Supercomputing mission.
Ø  The National Super Computing Mission is aimed at bringing the high performance computing (HPC) facilities.
Ø  The mission will be implemented at an estimated cost of 4500 crore rupees over a period of seven years.
Ø  This mission will be implemented Jointly by DST and Deity.
Ø  DST – Department of Science and Technology
Ø  Deity – Department of Electronics and Information technology.
