1.
MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS AND ISRO SIGNED MOU FOR REMOTE SENSING AND GIS TECHNOLOGIES
i. The
Ministry of Railways and Indian Space Research Organisation inked a Memorandum
of Understanding for efficent Use of Space Technology in Remote Sensing areas.
ii. The
agreement will enable the space technology for providing the passenger
information in all trains.
iii. The
main objective is to develop applications in the field of remote sensing and
graphic information system to provide information such as train stoppages, survey
of new rail routes.

2. 10TH ASIAN FILM AWARDS
ANNOUNCED
i. The 10th
edition of Asian film Awards was held in Macau, China.
ii. The
Assassin movie has bagged 8 awards in different categories in the 2016 Asian
film Awards.
iii. The
movie is about martial arts film based on story of highly trained female
assassin and is directed by Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-Hsien.
iv. List of winners
a. Best Film:
The Assassin.
b. Best
Director: Hou Hsiao-Hsien for movie The Assassi.
c. Best Actor:
Lee Byung-hun.
d. Best
Actress: Shu Qi.
3. UNION MINISTER
RAM VILAS PASWAN LAUNCHED FCI’S DEPOT ONLINE SYSTEM
i. Union
Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan
launched the Online Depot System in New Delhi
ii. It is
launched for the automatation of all the operations of Food Corporation of
India depots.
ii. The main
objective of the Depot Online System is to align with Digital India vision for
transformation of food distribution supply chain in India.
iii. It will
help to bring total transparency in the working of FCI and in better monitoring
and supervision to reduce leakages and losses.
4. ARUN
JAITLEY TO INAUGURATE NATIONAL COMMUNITY RADIO SAMMELAN IN NEW DELHI
i.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley will inaugurate the 6th
National Community Radio Sammelan in New Delhi.
ii. The
Theme of the sammelan is, ‘Community Radio in India: Towards Diversity and
Sustainability’.
iii. The
conference will bring together Community Radio Operators, policy makers,
Ministries, Departments, International bodies for exchange of ideas and cross
learning.
5. ASHLEY
JUDD APPOINTED U.N. GOODWILL AMBASSADOR
i. The
United Nations Population Fund appointed actor and activist Ashley Judd as its
Goodwill Ambassador.
ii. Ashley
Judd is an American actress and political activist.
iii. UNFP is
the leading UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted,
every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
iv. UNFP
formed in 1969 located at New York City.

6. SURAT
CLEANEST RAILWAY STATION AND VARANASI AMONG THE DIRTIEST
i. Surat is
the cleanest railway station in the country, followed by Rajkot and Bilaspur in
Chhattisgarh according to an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation survey
.
ii. Prime
Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi's railway station ranked poorly
in terms of cleanliness as it stood at 65.
iii. The
survey is conducted on ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan’.
7. SKOCH
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD CONFERRED ON VENKAIAH NAIDU
i. Union
urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu honoured with the Skoch Lifetime
Achievement Award in New Delhi.
ii. He was
selected for the award for his contributions to inclusive growth and towards
poverty alleviation in India.
iii. Skoch
Challenger Awards were instituted in 2003 as the highest independently
instituted civilian honours.
