i. Stan Wawrinka defeated world number one Novak Djokovic to won  US Open tennis tournament.

3. CENTRE INAUGURATES NATIONAL FAIR IN BENGALURU

i. Union Minister of State for Ayush Shri Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the National Fair on comprehensive Indian Medicine system (AROGYA) in Bengaluru.

ii. The two days BRICS Wellness Workshop and AROGYA fair is being organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, in collaboration with Research and Information System for Developing Countries.

4. CENTRE ISSUES FRESH GUIDELINES FOR FLEXI-FUND FOR CSS

i. The government has issued fresh flexi-fund guidelines that will give more freedom to states in spending money under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes .

ii.The fresh guidelines are issued to meet local developmental requirements.

ii. Under the new norms, flexi-funds in each CSS has been increased from the current 10% to 25% for states and 30% for Union Territories.

5. UNION GOVERNMENT ISSUES MODEL GUIDELINES FOR STATES TO CURB PONZI SCHEMES
i. The Union Government has issued model guidelines for states to regulate direct selling and multi-level marketing businesses to protect consumers from Ponzi frauds.

ii. These entities will have to enter into an agreement with direct sellers or agents, and give full refund or buy-back guarantee for goods and services sold to them.

iii. It also mandates direct sellers to constitute a grievance redressal committee to protect consumers’ right.

6. DEEPA MALIK FIRST INDIAN WOMAN TO WIN PARALYMPICS MEDAL

i. Deepa Malik has created history by winning silver medal in Women’s shotput at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

ii.She becomes first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympics.

iii. Malik had won the silver medal in the shotput F-53 event with her best throw of 4.61m in her six attempts.

iv. Deepa Malik Deepa Malik was born in Sonipat, Haryana.
