1. PER CAPITA INCOME OF INDIANS TO CROSS RS 1
LAKH IN FY17
i. India’s per capita income is estimated to cross Rs 1
lakh in 2016-17, up from Rs 93,293 in the previous fiscal.
ii. As per the ‘First Advance Estimates of National
Income, 2016-17’ released by CSO, the per capita net national income during
2016-17 is “estimated to be Rs 103,007” at current prices. This is higher by
10.4 per cent compared to Rs 93,293 during 2015-16.
iii. The Central Statistics Office said India’s GDP is
expected to slow down to 7.1 per cent during 2016-17 from 7.6 per cent in the
previous fiscal.
2. BUDGET
SESSION OF PARLIAMENT TO BEGIN FROM JANUARY 31ST
i. The Budget session of Parliament convened to start
from January 31, a day before the Union Budget is likely to be presented.
ii. President
Pranab Mukherjee has summoned the Rajya Sabha to meet on January 31, 2017.
iii. The practice of separate railway Budget presentation
is being scrapped from this year. The railway estimates will be part of the
Union Budget.

WON BRISBANE WOMEN'S DOUBLES TITLE BUT LOSES NO.1 RANK
i. Indian tennis playeer Sania Mirza picked up her first
title of the season, combining with American Bethanie Mattek-Sands to lift the
Brisbane International women's doubles title.
ii. The trophy ended Sania's 91-week reign as the world
No.1 doubles player in the WTA rankings. That position was taken over by her
partner Bethanie.

DJOKOVIC WINS QATAR OPEN TENNIS TITLE
i. Serbian Player Novak Djokovic has won the Qatar Open
tennis title held in Doha.
ii. He defeated Andy Murray of UK.

INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL BEGINS AT AHMEDABAD
i. A 7 day International Kite Festival is inaugurated by
International Kite festival CM Vijay Rupani and Gujarat Governor OP Kohli at
the Sabarmati riverfront, Ahmedabad.
ii. International Kite festival includes a theme pavilion
based on ‘Tourist Destinations of Gujarat’, kite workshop, adventure games for
kids, craft stalls to display the local art and food stalls with local
delicacies for the visitors.

MAHARASHTRA LAUNCHED INDIA’S FIRST 24×7 HELPLINE FOR FORESTS
i. India’s first state-wide call centre facility was
launched by Maharashtra state Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar at Goregaon in
Mumbai.
ii. State government will launch 24×7 toll free number 1926 to complaints or
get information about a variety of issues related to forests and wildlife.
iii. The call centre would circulate the query within the
network and try to respond with a feedback within a minimum of 48 hours and
maximum of four days.
iv. The forest department selected SAAR IT Solutions Pvt
Ltd in for this helpline service.
7. UCO
BANK LAUNCHED SUVIDHA PREPAID CARD
i. Kolkata based UCO Bank has launched its prepaid card ‘UCO
Suvidha.
ii. The prepaid card can be used for cash withdrawals,
purchase at Points of Sale or over the Internet.
iii. The prepaid card offers the flexibility to load/
reload amount as and when required.

TO BE BRAND AMBASSADOR FOR ASIAN PAINTS’ ULTIMA PROTEK
i. Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has roped as the brand
ambassador for Asian Paints premium exterior paint offering Ultima Protek.
ii. Ultima Protek gives homes complete protection against
rains and harsh weather conditions.

PAKISTAN’S GEN. RAHEEL SHARIF TO HEAD ISLAMIC MILITARY ALLIANCE
i. Gen Raheel Sharif from Pakistan will head the Saudi
Arabia-led 39-nation Islamic military coalition formed to combat terrorism.
ii. Raheel was retired as the army chief in November
2016. He was the IMA’s first Commander-in-Chief.
iii. The Islamic Military Alliance or Islamic Military
Alliance to Fight Terrorism is an intergovernmental military alliance of
multiple Muslim Countries, united around military intervention against ISIL and
other counter-terrorist activities.
