1. RBI'S MONETORY POLICY FEBRUARY 2017: KEEPS REPO RATE UNCHANGED AT 6.25%
i. RBI governor Urjit Patel led Monetary Policy Committee kept the key repo rate unchanged at 6.25% in the 1st monetary policy review of 2017 and after Budget 2017.
ii. Limit on cash withdrawal from savings banks accounts to be relaxed in 2 stages. From 20 February, 2017 limit to be increased from Rs 24k to Rs 50K. From 13 March, 2017 there will be no limit on cash withdrawal from savings bank accounts.
iii. 9.92 lakh cr new notes infused into market as on January 27. Inflation seen at 4-4.5% for April-September, 2017. For January-March, 2017 CPI stays below 5%.

2. 3-DAY GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON NUCLEAR TERRORISM TO BEGIN IN NEW DELHI
i. The Ministry of External Affairs in coordination with the Department of Atomic Energy is hosting the Implementation and Assessment Group Meeting of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism at the Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, New Delhi. Nearly 150 delegates from various partner countries and international organisations will take part in the 3-day event.
ii. Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar inaugurated the meeting organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Atomic Energy.
iii. The meeting highlights India’s commitment to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and technology and promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and global nuclear non-proliferation.
iv. GICNT was launched in 2006 jointly by the Russian Federation and the United States.


3.  NO CASH WITHDRAWAL LIMIT FROM MARCH 13, 2017: RBI
i. The Reserve Bank of India announced that the cash withdrawal limit on savings accounts will be scrapped from March 13, 2017.
ii. The current limit of withdrawal fixed at Rs. 24,000 per week will be raised to Rs. 50,000 per week from February 20, 2017 the RBI added.

4. GUJARAT BECOME INDIA’S FIRST STATE TO ESTABLISHES CASHLESS SYSTEM FOR PDS
i. Gujarat has become the 1st state in India to establish Cashless system for distribution of food grain to the beneficiaries under NFSA.
ii. The Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan appreciated the efforts of the state government which has installed Aadhaar Enabled Payment System in 17,250 Fair Price Shops much before the target of March 31 as decided by the state.
iii. The beneficiaries would just need to carry their Aadhaar cards for getting their food grain in Gujarat. This initiative will help in establishing their identity, stop the leakages of grain at shop level and eradicate corruption in the Public Distribution System.
iv. The consumers will also be able to get their air, rail and bus tickets reserved, deposit crop insurance premium, pay mobile bills, LIC premium and even get the Gujarat Soil Health Card and registration for Centrally Sponsored Schemes at the FPS itself.

5. VEERAPPAN, CHASING THE BRIGAND AUTHORED BY K VIJAY KUMAR
i. The Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh released the book titled - Veerappan, Chasing the Brigand.
ii. The book was written by K Vijay Kumar, Senior Security Adviser in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
iii. The book is considered as an authoritative narrative as the author K Vijay Kumar spearheaded the Tamil Nadu Special Task Force that planned and executed the Veerappan’s encounter in 2004.
iv. VIjay is a former 1975 batch IPS officer of the Tamil Nadu cadre and headed the prestigious Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad in 2008.

6. ARUNACHAL PRADESH BECOMES 1ST NORTH-EAST STATE TO IMPLEMENT E-CABINET SOLUTION
i. Arunachal Pradesh became the 1st state in the northeast to implement e-Cabinet solution for the state cabinet members.
ii.  Arunachal Pradesh Government plans to streamline its decision-making process with the e-Cabinet solution.
iii. The e-Cabinet solution is a multi-user secure solution that keeps relevant information organized and updated in real time. It will provide the ministers a clear overview of each item under discussion. It is implemented by the department of Information Technology and Communication.

7. UNION CABINET APPRISED OF MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND FRANCE IN INNOVATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
i. The Union Cabinet chaired by the PM Narendra Modi was apprised of the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between India and France.
ii. The MoU seeks to augment bilateral cooperation in the fields of innovation, science and technology.
iii. The MoU was signed between the Technology Development Board and Bpifrance. While the TDB works under the Department of Science and Technology of the Union Ministry of Sceience and Technology.
iv. The main aim of the agreement is to carry out activities related to exchange of best practices in the fields of science, technology and innovation through the TDB and Bpifrance.
