71ST WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY HELD IN
GENEVA, SWITZERLAND
i.
The 71st World Health Assembly was held in Geneva, Switzerland. The Indian
Delegation was led by Union Health Minister of India, Mr J P Nadda at World
Health Assembly.
ii.
The theme of the event is "Health for All: Commit To Universal Health
Coverage".
Iii.He
also inaugurated ‘Walk the Talk’ event and gave a call ‘Health for all, Yoga
for all’.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR BIOLOGICAL
DIVERSITY: 22 MAY
i.
The International Day for Biological Diversity is observed across the world on
May 22, with an aim to raise awareness about the conservation of biodiversity.
ii.
The theme of International Day for Biological Diversity 2018 is ‘Celebrating 25
Years of Action for Biodiversity’.

NYSE NAMES 1ST WOMAN CHIEF IN
EXCHANGE'S 226-YEAR HISTORY
i.
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has promoted Stacey Cunningham to President,
making her the first sole woman head of the 226-year-old exchange.
ii.
The 43-year-old became NYSE's Chief Operating Officer (COO) in June 2015. With
Cunningham's promotion, America's leading two stock exchanges will be led by
women after Adena Friedman took over as CEO of Nasdaq in January 2017.

AIR CHIEF MARSHAL BS DHANOA ON 4-DAY
VISIT TO ISRAEL
i.
Indian Air Force Chief Marshal Birendra Singh Dhanoa left to Israel on a
four-day tour of the country.
ii.The
Chief of the Air Staff will be attending a conference on ‘Air Superiority as a
Bridge to Regional Stability’.
iii.The
conference is part of the Israel Air Force’s 70th-anniversary celebrations.

SBI REPORTS LOSS OF RS. 7,718 CRORE IN
MARCH QUARTER: REPORT
i.
State Bank of India the country's
biggest lender, reported a loss of Rs. 7,718 crore in the January-March
quarter, hurt by higher provisions for bad loans.
ii.
The loss for the three months to March 31 was deeper than the expected Rs. 1,285
crore on average by 16 analysts, according to Thomson Reuters data.
6.
INDIA TO ACHIEVE 9% GROWTH RATE BY
2022: NITI AAYOG
i.
NITI Aayog vice-chairman Rajiv Kumar exuded confidence that Indian economy will
achieve 9% growth rate on sustained basis by 2022 on the back of reforms like
GST, demonetisation and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC).
ii.
According to Mr Kumar, Indian economy grew by 6.6% in 2017-18 and expected to
grow at 7.5% this fiscal.

RAFAEL NADAL BEATS ZVEREV TO WIN
ITALIAN OPEN
i.Rafael
Nadal of Spain has beaten Germany’s Alexander Zverev to win Italian Open title
for a record eighth time.
ii.After
this win, Nadal regained the world number one ranking before the French Open
beginning.
ii.
He has now won three clay-court titles from four tournaments in the lead-up to
his bid for an 11th Roland Garros title in Paris.
