1. ALLOTMENT OF 5 MHZ SPECTRUM IN 700 MHZ BAND TO IR

          The allotment of 5 MHz (Megahertz) Spectrum in 700 MHz frequency band to Indian Railways (IR) under the ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat’ mission will enhance public safety and security services at stations and in trains.

          Using this spectrum, IR has planned to provide LTE (Long Term Evolution) based Mobile Train Radio Communication on its route.

 

2. EXTENSION OF APPLICABILITY OF NIP-2012

          The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by PM Modi has approved the proposal of the Department of Fertilizers for extension of applicability of New Investment Policy (NIP)-2012 read with amendment dated 7th October 2014 for the Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL).

          RFCL is reviving the Ramagundam Unit of FCIL in Telangana by setting up a new gas based green field neem coated Urea Plant.

          The cost of this RFCL Urea Project is INR 6165.06 Crore and will add 12.7 LMTPA indigenous urea production in India.

          It will become one of the largest fertilizer manufacturing units of South India.

 

3. MSP FOR KHARIF CROPS FOR MARKETING SEASON 2021-22              

          The CCEA chaired by PM Modi has approved the increase in Minimum Support Prices (MSPs) for all mandated Kharif crops for marketing season 2021-22.

          The highest absolute increase in MSP compared to 2020-21 was recommended for Sesamum (INR 452 per quintal) followed by Tur and Urad (INR 300 Per Quintal Each).

 

4. REPORT ON SAVING OF LOGISTICS FUEL

          NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India), RMI (Rocky Mountain Institute), and RMI India presented key opportunities for India to reduce its logistics costs through their new report, titled ‘Fast Tracking Freight in India: A Roadmap for Clean and Cost-Effective Goods Transport’.

          Reduce the country’s logistics cost by 4 percent of GDP (Gross Domestic Product).

          Achieve 10 gigatonnes of cumulative CO2 emissions savings between 2020 and 2050.

          Reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions by 35 percent and 28 percent, respectively, until 2050.

 

5. 1ST EDITION OF ARAB-INDIA ENERGY FORUM

          The 1st Edition of the Arab-India Energy Forum (AIEF) was held virtually.

          It was held under the co-chairship of India  & the Kingdom of Morocco.

          The forum witnessed exchange of knowledge, expertise and best practices in the fields of energy efficiency programmes for different economic sectors, accelerated development of new & renewable energy, fostering regional power sharing arrangements, enhanced oil recovery, tight gas extraction, and safe nuclear power generation etc.

 

6. FIRST COUNTRY TO ADOPT BITCOIN AS LEGAL TENDER

          El Salvador has become the first country in the world to grant legal tender status to bitcoin.

          The use of bitcoin as a legal tender will become law in 90 days.

          The use of bitcoin will be totally optional.

          According to World Bank data, remittances from bitcoin to El Salvador account for $6 billion in 2019.

          It is around a fifth of GDP in 2019 & a highest ratio across the world.

          Bitcoin is the first decentralized crypto currency which was released in 2009.

          It is a digital currency which does not have a central bank or single administrator.

 

7. WORLD’S BEST BANKS 2021

          DBS, a leading financial services group headquartered in Singapore, tops the Forbes list of the World’s Best Banks 2021 in India.

          DBS ranked number 1 out of the 30 domestic and international banks in India for the 2nd consecutive year.

          This is the 3rd edition of the World’s Best Banks’ list by Forbes.

          The DBS has also topped the World’s Best Banks 2021 in Indonesia and has secured the 2nd rank under Singapore category and 10th under Taiwan category.

 

8. ISRO SET TO TRANSFER VENTILATORS TECHNOLOGY TO INDUSTRY

          The Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) has developed 3 types of ventilators: PRANA , VaU and SVASTA.

          ISRO is set to transfer the technology to the industry for clinical usage during the 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic.

          “PRANA” Programmable Respiratory Assistance for the Needy Aid a low-cost and portable critical care ventilator based on the automated compression of an AMBU (Artificial Manual Breathing Unit) bag.

          “VaU” Ventilation assist Unit is an ICU grade positive pressure mechanical ventilator.

          “SVASTA” Space Ventilator Aided System for Trauma Assistance is a Gas-powered ventilator.

 

9. SUNIL CHHETRI BECAME 2ND HIGHEST INTERNATIONAL GOAL SCORER

          Sunil Chhetri, 36-year-old Indian Footballer, became the 2nd highest International goal scorer among the active players. 

          He overtook Lionel Messi of Argentina by scoring his 73rd and 74th Goal during the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh.

          Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal tops the list with 103 international goals.

          Sunil Chhetri has been placed 11th on the all-time goal-scorers list in men’s international football.

 

10. ‘JAHAN VOTE, WAHAN VACCINATION’ CAMPAIGN

          Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal launched the government’s Covid-19 mass vaccination campaign ‘Jahan Vote, Wahan Vaccination’ to vaccinate people above 45 in 4 weeks.

          Under this scheme People will get Covid-19 vaccines at booths where they voted in elections.

          Also Booth-level officers will visit homes and give vaccination slots.
