1.       RECOMMENDATIONS OF 45TH GST COUNCIL

      45th meeting of GST (Goods & Service Tax) Council was held at Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, under the chairmanship of the Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Ministry of Finance.

      The existing concessional GST rates (till 30th September, 2021) on Covid-19 treatment drugs extended to December, 31 2021.

      From January 1, 2022, food delivery apps will collect and deposit 5% GST with the government, in place of restaurants, for deliveries made by them.

      This will not affect the end consumer.

 

2. JOINT MILITARY TRAINING EXERCISE ‘SURYA KIRAN’

      The 14-day long 15th India-Nepal Joint Military Training exercise Surya Kiran commenced in the Himalayan border town of Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand in India.

 

3. COMMEMORATIVE STAMP ON RAO JAIMAL RATHORE

      Devusinh Chauhan, Union Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of Communications launched a commemorative postal stamp to honour Rao Jaimal Rathore on his 515th birth anniversary.

      Rao Jaimal Rathore, a Rajput warrior general of Chittorgarh, fought against the Mughal army during its siege from 1567 to 1568.

 

4.INDIA’S 1ST INDIGENOUS LUXURY CRUISE LINER

      Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) started India’s first indigenous luxury cruise liner on 18th September 2021.

      IRCTC has partnered with Cordelia Cruises, operated by Waterways Leisure Tourism Private Limited to promote and market India’s 1st luxury cruise.

 

5. INDIA TO BECOME WORLD’S 3RD LARGEST IMPORTER BY 2050

      According to a report ‘Global Trade Outlook’ by UK’s Department of International Trade, India is going to become the world’s 3rd largest importer by 2050 with a 5.9% share of global imports.

      Top two position were occupied by China and the United States (US).

      ‘E7 group’ of the seven largest emerging economies – China, India, Brazil, Russia, Indonesia, Mexico and Turkey – are expected to equal the G7’s share of global import demand by 2050.

6. 16TH CHIEF MINISTER OF PUNJAB

      The Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) from Congress party Charanjit Singh Channi took the oath as the 16th Chief Minister (CM)of Punjab.

      He has succeeded the previous CM Captain Amarinder Singh.

      Sukhjinder Randhawa and OP Sohni will serve as the two Deputy Chief Minister (Dy.CM)  of Punjab.

 

7. INTERNATIONAL EQUAL PAY DAY 2021

      United Nations(UN)’s International Equal Pay Day is annually observed across the globe on 18th September as an effort to eliminate the gender pay gap and to overcome the sexual discrimination against women and girls in employment.

      18th September 2021 marks the observance of the 2nd International Equal Pay Day.

 

8. SIKKIM DECLARES ‘KATLEY’ AS STATE FISH

      The Sikkim government has declared ‘Copper Mahseer’ locally named ‘Katley’ as the State fish.

      The scientific name of the fish is Neolissochilus hexagonolepis.

      The fish is predominantly found in Teesta and Rangit rivers and their tributaries.

 

9. STATE FOOD SAFETY INDEX 2020-2021

      Union Minister Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) released 3rd State Food Safety Index (SFSI) 2020-21 by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in New Delhi.

      It measures the performance of States/Union Territories (UTs) across five parameters of food safety.

      Gujarat was the top ranking state among larger states

      Goa stood first in the category of smaller states.

      Jammu & Kashmir grabbed the topped spot among UTs.

 

10. MARITIME EXERCISE ‘SAMUDRA SHAKTI’ HELD IN SUNDA STRAIT

      The 3rd edition of the Bilateral Maritime Exercise between the Indian and Indonesian navies named ‘Samudra Shakti’ was scheduled to be held at Sunda Strait, Indonesia from September 20 to 22, 2021.

 

11. INDIA CHAIRS THE 6TH BRICS YSF

      India chairs the 6th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Young Scientist Forum (YSF) for the year 2021.The event was hosted by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), in collaboration with the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru (NIAS).

      India recently chaired the 13th BRICS Summit with the theme BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus.

 

12. BOB, BPCL LAUNCHED INTERNATIONAL RUPAY CARD

      Bank of Baroda (BoB) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) jointly launched a personalised co-branded RuPay NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) platinum international contactless debit card.

      The co-branded debit card has an NCMC (National Common Mobility Card) feature to enable contactless transactions across all the public transport systems in the country

 

13. NIPL PARTNERED WITH LIQUID GROUP

      NPCI International Payments Ltd (NIPL), the international arm of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has partnered with Liquid Group Pte. Ltd. (Liquid Group), to enable Unified Payments Interface (UPI) QR-based payments acceptance in 10 markets across North Asia and Southeast Asia.

      The partnership will enable BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) App users to make UPI QR-based payments at over 2 million merchants across North Asia and Southeast Asia from early 2022.

 

14. NEW CTO OF RBIH

      Amit Saxena, Global Deputy Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of State Bank of India(SBI), has been appointed as the new CTO of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH).

      Reserve Bank of India(RBI) established the RBIH in 2020 to promote innovation across the financial sector using technology and creating an environment to facilitate and foster innovation.

15.INDIA’S 70TH CHESS GRANDMASTER

      R.Raja Rithvik, 17, became India’s 70th chess Grandmaster (GM) after defeating FIDE Master Finek Vaclav of Czechoslovakia in 57 moves and reaching the live rating of 2501 in Vezerkepzo Grandmaster Chess Tournament at Budapest, Hungary.

 

16.BEIJING 2022 WINTER OLYMPICS UNVEILS OFFICIAL MOTTO

      The organisers of the Beijing 2022 announced the official motto of Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022, “Together for a Shared Future” over a ceremony at the Capital Museum, Beijing.

      Beijing 2022 Mascot:Mascots of Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic mascots were designed by Cao Xue.

17.ASIAN SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

      Indian Snooker player Padma Awardee Pankaj Advani won the Asian Snooker Championship 2021 held at Al Messila in Doha, Dubai against Amir Sarkhosh of Iran.

      The 23-time billiards and snooker world champion Pankaj Advani has won the title for the 2nd consecutive year, he won the title in 2019.

 

18.INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE 2021 – SEPTEMBER 21

      The United Nations (UN)’s International Day of Peace is annually observed across the globe on September 21st to strengthen the idea of peace both within and among all nations and people by observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

      The theme of the International Day of Peace 2021 is “Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable world”.

 

19.WORLD ALZHEIMER’S DAY 2021 – SEPTEMBER 21

      World Alzheimer’s Day is annually observed across the globe on September 21st to create awareness about Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
