1.       FEMINA MISS INDIA 2022

·         Sini Shetty from Karnataka was crowned as Femina Miss India World 2022

·         The event was hosted at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, Maharashtra

·         The 1st runner-up of Femina Miss India 2022 was Rajasthan’s Rubal Shekhawat and the 2nd runner-up was Shinata Chauhan from Uttar Pradesh.

 

2.       KEMPEGOWDA INTERNATIONAL AWARD 2022

·         Former Karnataka chief minister (CM) S M Krishna, Infosys founder and IT industry veteran N R Narayana Murthy, and former badminton player Prakash Padukone, have been selected for the ‘Kempegowda International Award’, 2022.

·         Kempegowda International Award, a civilian award is also known as Nadaprabhu KempegowdaAward, presented annually on 27th June every year, as it marks Kempegowda day or Kempegowda Jayanthi.

 

3.       NEW PM OF ISRAEL

·         Yesh Atid Party leader, Yair Lapid officially became the 14th Prime Minister (PM) of Israel. He succeeded the previous PM, Naftali Benett.

·         He took charge of the  caretaker government (Interim Govt)  following the dissolution of the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament) until the elections, in September 2022

4.       FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2022

·         Spain’s Carlos Sainz Jr. of  team Scuderia Ferrari ,  won the Formula 1 Lenovo British Grand Prix 2022 trophy at the Silverstone circuit, in Silverstone, England. It was his his first career Formula One (F1) race victory.

5.       3RD STATES’ STARTUP RANKING 2021

·         3rd edition of the States’ Startup Ranking 2021 was announced in New Delhi (Delhi).

·          Event was organized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), MoCI.

·         The Best Performer States are Gujarat and Karnataka in Category A, and Meghalaya in Category B.

·         The ranking is based upon States’ Startup Ranking Framework (SRF) 2020 which involves five grading groups viz. Best performers (Percentile: 100), Top Performers (Percentile: 60-99), Leaders (Percentile: 30-59), Aspiring Leaders (Percentile: 11-29), and Emerging Startups Ecosystems (Percentile: Up To 10).

 

6.       UN OCEAN CONFERENCE 2022 HELD IN LISBON, PORTUGAL

·         The United Nations (UN) Ocean Conference 2022 was co-hosted by the governments of Kenya and Portugal at the Lisbon Altice Arena Convention Center in Lisbon, Portugal.

·         The UN Ocean Conference 2022’s overall theme is “Scaling up ocean action based on science and innovation for the implementation of Goal 14: stocktaking, partnerships and solutions.”

·         Secretary-General of the Conference – Liu Zhenmin, UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs.

·         Ambassador Peter Thomson of Fiji was appointed as UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for the Ocean in 2017 by the UN Secretary-General Guterres.

 

7.       AMERICA’S TOP SELF-MADE WOMAN BILLIONAIRES

·         According to Forbes’s eighth annual list 2022, Jayshree V Ullal, the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Arista Networks, a computer networking firm, are among the Five women of Indian origin in America’s richest self-made women.

·         Forbes had named her one of America’s richest self-made women for her net worth reaching USD 2.1 billion in 2022 and secured 15th Rank in the list.

·         Other Indian American women who made it to the Forbes list are Neerja Sethi, co-founder of Syntel; Neha Narkhede, co-founder and former chief technology officer (CTO) of Confluent; former PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi, and Reshma Shetty, co-founder of Ginkgo Bioworks.

·         Diane Hendricks, co-founder and chairman of ABC Supply, topped the list for the fifth year with USD 12.2 billion net worth.

 

8.       INDIA’S FIRST AUTONOMOUS NAVIGATION FACILITY – TIHAN

·         Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology Jitendra Singh launched India’s first Autonomous Navigation facility, TiHAN (Technology Innovation Hub on Autonomous Navigation) for Aerial and Terrestrial with a budget layout of Rs. 130 crores at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad campus.

·         TiHAN is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.

·         IIT Hyderabad has established a first-of-its-kind, new Post-Graduation course of M.Tech in ‘Smart Mobility’.

·         TiHAN is developing and deploying a real-time CPS system by utilising autonomous UAVs and ground or surface vehicles for many application sectors of national importance.

·         Under this national mission, IIT Hyderabad has been awarded the Technology Innovation Hub for Autonomous Navigation and Data Acquisition Systems (UAVs, ROVs. etc.).

·         In the field of technology, around 25 technology innovation hubs have already been set up by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under NM-ICPS.
