1.              FIRST PM TO ATTEND KULLU DUSSEHRA

·                The Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi visited Himachal Pradesh (HP) and launched multiple projects worth over Rs 3650 crores in Luhnu, Bilaspur, HP.

·                He participated in the famous Kullu Dussehra celebrations at Dhalpur Ground of Kullu.  

·                With this he becomes first PM to attend Kullu Dussehra.

·                He Inaugurated AIIMS at BilaspurDistt

 

2.              INDIA BECOMES WORLD’S LARGEST PRODUCER, CONSUMER OF SUGAR

·                For the Sugar Season (October–September) 2021–22, a record amount of more than 5000 Lakh Metric Tons (LMT) of sugarcane was produced in the country, making India the largest producer, consumer, and 2nd largest exporter of sugar in the world.

·                India’s sugar industry exported about Rs. 40,000 crores in foreign currency, with favourable international prices and GoI policies.

 

3.              UNESCO-MONDIACULT 2022 WORLD CONFERENCE IN MEXICO

·                The Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Meghwal represented the Indian delegation at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)-MONDIACULT 2022 World Conference  that was held in Mexico 

·                This also pertains to developing peace and security that is in-line with UN Secretary-General António Guterres report, titled ‘Our Common Agenda’, released in September 2021, which refers to culture as a ‘global public good, the good of us all’.

 

4.              FIH MEN’S AND WOMEN’S GOALKEEPERS OF THE YEAR 2021-22

·                The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has named India’s men’s and women’s hockey goalkeepersPR Sreejesh and Savita Puniaas the FIH Goalkeepers of the Year 2021-22 in their respective categories in FIH Hockey Stars Awards 2021-22 .

·                Sreejeshis followed by Belgium’s Loic van Dorenin 2nd position

·                Savita is followed by Belén Succi from Argentina in 2nd position

·                Savita from Haryana will be called as “Great Wall of India”.

 

5.              TALLEST DURGA PUJA PANDAL IN LUCKNOW

·                The 136 feet tall Durga Puja pandal, situated in Jankipuram, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (UP) is to be certified by Guinness Book as the tallest ever pandal.

·                Lucknow Durga Puja pandal will overpowered Kolkata’s 125 feet tall pandal, which held the current title of being the world’s tallest pandal.

 

6.              TENNISTEL AVIV OPEN 2022

·                Tel Aviv Open 2022 ,also known as Tel Aviv Watergen Open 2022 was held in Tel Aviv, Israel.

·                Former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic from Serbia won the men’s singles title 2022 against Marin Cilic of Croatia.

·                He became the first man to win a title on hard, clay (Rome) and grass courts (Wimbledon) for 2022.

·                The duo of Rohan Bopanna (India) and MatweMiddelkoop (Dutch) won the ATP 250 Tel Aviv Watergen Open men’s doubles title.

 

7.              INDIAN RAILWAYS AIMS TO BECOME A NET ZERO CARBON EMITTER BY 2030

·                The Indian Railways (IR) intends to gradually reduce its carbon footprint and become a ‘Net Zero Carbon Emitter by 2030 by completing electrification of all railway tracks and focusing on boosting network capacity.

·                As part of its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the Government of India (GoI) has set a target of 33% reduction in emissions intensity, with transportation as one of the important sectors with considerable mitigation potential.

 

8.              DAKSH: RBI LAUNCHED SUPTECH APP TO IMPROVE SUPERVISORY PROCESSES

·                The Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched a new SupTech initiative named à¤¦à¤•्ष (DAKSH) – Reserve Bank’s Advanced Supervisory Monitoring System’ to further strengthen the supervisory processes.

·                The meaning of DAKSH is efficient and competent.

·                This application envisages enhancing the compliance culture in Supervised Entities (SEs) like Banks, NBFCs (Non-Banking Financial Company), etc.

·                It will also enable seamless communication, inspection planning and execution, cyber incident reporting and analysis, provision of various MIS (Management Information System) reports etc. with anytime-anywhere secure access.

 

9.              WORLD BANK CUTS INDIA’S GROWTH FORECAST TO 6.5% FOR FY23

·                The World Bank (WB) in its latest South Asia Economic Focus titled ‘Coping with Shocks: Migration and the Road to Resilience’  has declined the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast for India for 2022-23 (FY23) to 6.5%, from an earlier estimate of 7.5%.

·                For FY23-24, this projection is 7%, and for FY24-25 its 1%.

10.           BALA SUBRAMANIAN RE-ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF AMFI 

·                A. Balasubramanian, Managing Director (MD) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aditya Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company (formerly known as Birla Sun Life Asset Management Company Limited) has been re-elected as Chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the body of the Mutual fund industry.

·                Radhika Gupta, MD of Edelweiss Mutual Fund Asset Management Company(AMC), will continue as Chairperson of the AMFI Committee on Operations, Compliance and Risk of AMFI.

·                AMFI (a non-profit organisation), the association of all the AMCs of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) registered mutual funds in India under SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996.

·                It has 43 Asset Management Companies that are AMFIs members registered with SEBI.
