1.       INDIA HOSTS THE 6TH ASSEMBLY OF THE INTERNATIONAL SOLAR ALLIANCE

·         India hosted the 6th Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) at Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi, Delhi.

·         Union Minister Raj Kumar Singh (RK Singh) Ministry of Power (MOP) and Ministry of New & Renewable Energy(MNRE), President of ISA presided over the 6th Assembly of ISA.

·         Chile has officially joined the ISA as its 95th member.

·         ISA Headquarters– Gurugram, Haryana

·         Formed in 2015

·         Member– 95 Members and 116 signatories

 

2.       RBI GOVERNOR RELEASED CAFRAL 1ST REPORT

·         Shaktikanta Das, Governor of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), released the 1st flagship publication of the Centre for Advanced Financial Research and Learning (CAFRAL) titled ‘India Finance Report 2023 (IFR 2023)‘.

·          The report stated that India’s fintech sector could replace traditional banking in the near future.

·         The theme of the report is ‘Connecting the Last Mile: Non-Banking Financial Companies in India’.

·         CAFRAL, promoted by RBI, is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2011 to promote research and learning in banking and finance.

 

3.       NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF AMFI

·         The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), a self-regulatory organisation (SRO) for the Mutual Fund (MF) industry in India appointed Venkat Nageswar Chalasani, former Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the International Banking Group of State Bank of India (SBI), as its new Chief Executive.

·         AMFI Headquarters– Mumbai, Maharashtra

·         AMFI is the association of all the Asset Management Companies of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI)-registered MFs in India and was incorporated on August 22, 1995, as a non-profit organisation.

 

4.       NATIONAL AYURVEDA DAY 2023- NOVEMBER 10

·         National Ayurveda Day is annually observed across India aimed at generating awareness among people about health issues as well as the potential role of Ayurveda in their prevention and treatment.

·         The day aligns with Dhanvantari Jayanti, to honour Lord Dhanvantari, the God of Ayurveda, and coincides with Dhanteras, seeking blessings for robust health.

·         The focal theme for Ayurveda Day 2023 is, “Ayurveda for One Health” .

 

5.       AI-DRIVEN CHATBOT ‘BIRBAL’ LAUNCHED

·         Anindita Mitra, Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL), launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven chatbot “BIRBAL” to provide a one-stop platform for citizens to access information and services.

·         The BIRBAL is developed using CoRover.ai, a generative AI-powered conversational AI platform.

 

6.       INDIA & BANGLADESH NAVIES BILATERAL EXERCISE

·         The 4th edition of the Bilateral Exercise between the Indian Navy(IN) and Bangladesh Navy(BN), BONGOSAGAR 23, and the 5th edition of Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) by the two navies was conducted from 7th to 9th November 20233 in the Northern Bay of Bengal.

·         Bongo Sagar exercise was first conducted in 2019 while 1st edition of IN-BN CORPAT  was held in 2018.

 

7.       QS ASIA RANKINGS 2024

·         QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) World University Ranking: Asia 2024 was released, showcasing 148 Indian universities which is 30 more than the last edition.

·         With this, India now holds the highest representation in Asia’s higher education system, surpassing China (133) and Japan (96).

·         Peking University, Beijing, China has retained the 1st position in the QS Asia Ranking 2024, while, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) in Mumbai, Maharashtra grabbed the top spot in India with 40th position in the Asia Ranking.

8.       INDEX BY OBI

·         According to the Inclusiveness Index published by the Othering and Belonging Institute (OBI) at California University, United States of America(USA), India was ranked 117th out of 129 countries with an overall score of 49.24.

·         India was ranked 129th  in religion inclusiveness, 121st in gender, 108th in disability, 87th in race, 40th in the general population, and 39th in LGBTQ+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or questioning, Intersex, Asexual).

·         The index was topped by New Zealand for the second consecutive year with an overall score of 82.08.

·         It is followed by 2nd place at Portugal (77.6), and the Netherlands (76.98) in the 3rd place.

 

9.       19TH ‘KALAKAR PURASKAR’ AWARD

·         Apolinaris D’Souza, a prominent Konkani singer, lyricist, and composer, was honored with the 19th edition of the ‘Kalakar Puraskar‘ award in appreciation of his immense contributions to the field of music for over 5 decades.

·         The award was presented during the 263rd Monthly Theatre at Kalaangann, Shakthinagar, Karnataka.

 

10.    ASIAN ARCHERY CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

·         The Indian contingent finished second in the medal tally with 7 medals (3 Gold, 1 silver and 3 Bronze) in the Asian Archery Championships 2023 held in Bangkok, Thailand

·         South Korea secured first place in the medal tally with 11medals(6 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze) while Kazakhstan in the third plce with 3 mrdals(1 Gold and 2 Silver) in the 23rd edition of the Asian Archery Championship.

 

11.    VIRENDER SEHWAG INDUCTED INTO ICC HALL OF FAME 2023

·         Indian Cricketers VirenderSehwag, Diana Edulji and Sri Lanka’s Aravinda de Silva Inducted into ICC Hall of Fame 2023

·         Diana FramEdulji  is the first Indian woman cricketer inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

12.    WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY 2023 – NOVEMBER 12

·         World Pneumonia Day is annually observed across the globe on November 12 to raise awareness and educate people about Pneumonia disease, the world’s most prominent infectious death of children under the age of 5.

·         The theme of World Pneumonia Day 2023 is “Every Breath Counts: Stop Pneumonia in Its Track”.
