1.       15th BRICS TRADE MINISTERS’ MEETING

·         The 15th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting held in Brazil under the Presidency of Brazil, focusing on the theme: “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” 

·         India proposed the “30 for 30” initiative, which aims to introduce 30 reforms to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2025.

 


2.       LIMA 2025  IN MALAYSIA

·         Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025), biennial event, held in Langkawi, Malaysia.

·         It is recognized as one of the largest maritime and aerospace exhibitions in the Asia-Pacific region.

 

3.       9th BRICS INDUSTRY MINISTERS’ MEETING

·         India participated in the 9th BRICSIndustry Ministers’ Meeting held under the chairship of Brazil in Brasilia (Brazil.

·         Theme:  ‘Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance’.

·         The key highlight of the meeting was the formal presentation of the BRICS Startup Knowledge Hub, which was launched previously on January 31, 2025 under the BRICS Start-Up Forum.

·         It is the 1st-of-its-kind platform aims to foster cross-border collaboration, share policy insights, and promote mutual learning across startup ecosystems of BRICS member countries.

 

4.       78th  WORLD HEALTH ASSEMBLY

·         The 78th session of World Health Assembly (WHA 78), the highest decision-making body of World Health Organisation (WHO), was held in Geneva, Switzerland under the theme “One World for Health”.

·         Teodoro J. Herbosa, Health Secretary of the Philippines, was elected as President of WHA 78.

·         In May 2025, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi addressed WHA 78 through video-conferencing.

·         The India delegation led by PunyaSalila Srivastava, Secretary of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoH&FW) representing India at WH 78.

·         India received the Certification of Elimination of Trachoma as a Public Health Problem by the WHO.

·         The certification was presented by TedrosAdhanomGhebreyesus, Director-General (DG) of WHO during the WHA 78.

5.       USA ‘GOLDEN DOME’ DEFENCE PLAN

·         USA President Donald Trump unveiled defence plan for USD 175 billion ‘Golden Dome’, a new missile defence system, which will help the USA in countering the foreign missile attack.

·         The Golden Dome is inspired from Israel’s land based ‘Iron Dome’ defence shield, which has intercepted thousands of short-range rockets since its deployment in 2011.

·         The Golden Dome aims to create a network of satellites that will help in detecting, monitoring, and potentially intercepting incoming missiles and has the capability to deploy hundreds of satellites for missile detection and tracking.

 

6.       NATIONAL ANUBHAV AWARDS 2025

·         The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions (MoPPG&P), Government of India (GoI), announced the winners of the National Anubhav Awards Scheme, 2025

·         The awards aim to encourage retiring and retired employees to document and share their valuable work experiences and insights through written submissions.

·         A two-tier evaluation process was conducted, leading to the selection of 05 Anubhav Awardees and 10 Jury Certificate winners.

 

7.       ‘GLOBAL INDIAN OF THE YEAR 2025’ AWARD BY CIF

·         Spiritual leader and Founder of Isha Foundation Jagadish “Jaggi” Vasudev also known as ‘Sadhguru’ was conferred the ‘Global Indian of the Year 2025’ award by Canada India Foundation (CIF),

·         Sadhguru has been teaching yoga since 1982.

·         His Isha foundation was established in 1992 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu (TN).

 

8.       COMPANION OF THE ORDER OF FIJI AWARD

·         Fiji-born, Mumbai based singer and humanitarian SumeetTappoo was conferred with the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the highest civilian honor in Fiji, was presented by the President of Fiji 

·         The award, equivalent to India’s Bharat Ratna, was given in recognition of his outstanding service to Fiji through his music and humanitarian efforts.

·         The Companion of the Order of Fiji was awarded to three individuals for their significant contributions

·         SumeetTappoo – Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Fiji

·         Dr.KrupaliTappoo – Director of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Fiji

·         Sri Madhusudan Sai – Founder of One World, One Family Global Humanitarian Mission

 

9.       78TH  CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

·         The 78th annual Cannes International Film Festival was held in Cannes, France

·         Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi was awarded the festival’s highest honour, the Palme d’Or, for his drama film ‘It Was Just an Accident’.

·         Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Trier was honored with the Grand Prix for Sentimental Value, a family drama exploring the complexities of reconciliation.

·         In Caméra d’Or Section, Iraqi filmmaker Hasan Hadi made history as the first from Iraq to win this award for The President’s Cake, a childhood drama set under economic sanctions.

·         ‘Homebound’, Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, was selected for the Un Certain Regard section.

·         The film features actors Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and Vishal Jethwa, and marks Ghaywan’s return to Cannes after his acclaimed debut Masaan in 2015.

·         The biopic ‘Kalam: The Missile Man of India’ was officially unveiled. The film was directed by Om Raut and starring Dhanush.

 

10.    WORLD’S WEALTHIEST CITIES REPORT 2025

·         London based Henley & Partners in partnership with wealth intelligence firm, New World Wealth released the 4th annual edition of World’s Wealthiest Cities Report 2025. 

·         Mumbai ranked at 27th position globally with more than 51,000 millionaires, and 25 billionaires, emerged as the wealthiest city in India.

·         USA is the country with the highest number of millionaires, featuring 11 cities in the top 50 rankings (of which 4 are in the top 10 rankings).

·         New York City retained its position as the world’s wealthiest city, with 384, 500 High-Net Worth Individuals (HNIs), followed by the Bay Area (including the city of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, USA) and Tokyo (Japan) ranked at 2nd and 3rd position in the list.

·         Tokyo stands as Asia’s wealthiest city.
