1.       INDIA ELECTED TO UN ECOSOC

·         India was elected to the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for a three-year term from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028. 

·         India was elected as one of the 18 new member nations to ECOSOC by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA),

·         India’s Permanent Representative to the UN is Parvathaneni Harish

·         India received 181 out of 187 valid votes, showing strong global backing.

·         From the Asia-Pacific group, China (180 votes), Lebanon (183 votes), and Turkmenistan (183 votes) were also elected.

·         ECOSOC Headquarters – New York City

·         Established – 1945

 


2.       NATIONAL FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE AWARDS 2025

·         The Hon’ble President of India Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Florence Nightingale Awards 2025 to 15 outstanding nursing professionals.

·         The National Florence Nightingale Awards, instituted by the MoHFW, Government of India (GoI) in 1973, honor the dedication and service of nursing professionals.

·         Florence Nightingale (1820–1910) was a British nurse, social reformer, and statistician, widely regarded as the founder of modern nursing.

 

3.       MISS WORLD 2025

·         Opal Suchata Chuangsri from Thailand was crowned Miss World 2025 at the 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant held in Hyderabad, Telangana.

·         She made history by becoming the first woman from Thailand and only the second from Southeast Asia, after India in 2017, to win the Miss World title.

·         The First Runner-up title was awarded to Hasset Dereje Admassu from Ethiopia, while Maja Klajda from Poland was declared the Second Runner-up.

 

4.       USISPF GLOBAL LEADERSHIP AWARD

·         Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Mumbai based Aditya Birla Group was honoured with the 2025 Global Leadership Award by the United States-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) at its 8th Annual Leadership Summit, held in Washington, USA.

·         Indian Origin Arvind Krishna, Chairman,IBM and Toshiaki Higashihara (Japan), Executive Chairman of Hitachi were also awarded.

·         The United States-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Global Leadership Award is an annual honour bestowed by the USISPF to individuals who made outstanding contributions to strengthening the US-India relationship.

 

5.       ACI AIR CONNECTIVITY RANKING 2024

·         Hong Kong based Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific & Middle East (APAC &MID) released its latest ‘Air Connectivity Ranking 2024’.

·         Dubai International Airport topped (DXB), the airports in Air Connectivity in 2024.

·         It is followed by China-based Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG); and Qatar-based Hamad International Airport (DOH), ranked at 2nd and 3rd position on the list.

·         Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), located in New Delhi was ranked 10th on the list of hub airports.

 

6.       CLIMATE CHANGE PERFORMANCE INDEX 

·         In the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) 2025India secured the 10th position with a score of 67.99, dropping three places from its 7th rank in 2024.

·         The CCPI 2025 left the top three positions vacant due to the absence of any country achieving a “very high” overall rating.

·         Denmark topped the index at the 4th position.

·         It was followed by the Netherlands(6th) and the United Kingdom (UK)(7th).

·         The CCPI has been published annually since 2005 by three environmental non-governmental organisations (NGOs): Germanwatch (based in Bonn, Germany), New Climate Institute (based in Cologne, Germany), and the Climate Action Network (CAN) International (based in Beirut, Lebanon).

 

7.       NOMADIC ELEPHANT 2025

·         The 17th edition of Exercise NOMADIC ELEPHANT, annual bilateral joint military exercise between India and Mongolia commenced in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

·         Mongolia Capital – Ulaanbaatar.

 

8.       ASIAN ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2025

·         India finished second in the overall medal tally at the 26th Asian Athletics Championships with a commendable haul of 24 medals - 8 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze. 

·         China topped the standings with 32 medals (19 gold, 9 silver, 4 bronze).

·         The Asian Athletics Championships 2025, held in Gumi, South Korea.

 

9.       F1 SPANISH GRAND PRIX 2025

·         Oscar Piastri, representing UKbased McLaren Racing Limited, clinched his 5th Formula One Grand Prix victory of the 2025 season by winning Spanish Grand Prix. 

·         Lando Norris secured 2nd position.

 

10.    GLENN MAXWELL & HEINRICH KLAASEN RETIRES

·         Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell announced retirement from the One Day Internationals (ODIs) cricket, bringing an end to a distinguished 13-year career in the ODI format.

·         South African Wicketkeeper-batter, Heinrich Klaasen, has announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket.

 

11.    INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE 2025

·         Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their first Indian Premier League (IPLtitle, defeating Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmadabad.

·         Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder Krunal Pandya awarded player of the match in the finals and became the first player to win ‘Player of the Match’ award in two IPL finals, previously for MI in 2017.

 

12.    SINGAPORE OPEN BADMINTON 2025

·         The 2025 Singapore Open (Badminton), officially known as the KFF Singapore Badminton Open 2025, was in Kallang, Singapore. 

·         Chen Yufei of China clinched the Women’s Singles title by defeating her compatriot Wang Zhiyi in the final.

·         In the men’s singles category, KunlavutVitidsarn of Thailand won the title by defeating Lu Guangzu of China
Indian shuttlersSatwiksairajRankireddy and Chirag Shetty, lost in the semi-finals against Olympic bronze medalists Aaron CHIA and SOH WooiYik of Malaysia.

 

13.    UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

·         Paris based Paris Saint-Germain(PSG) Football Club won their first-ever UEFA (Union of European Football Associations)Champions League (UCL) 2025 title by defeating Italy based Inter Milan Football Club (FC) with a historic 5-0 victory in the final held at Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany.

·         This win marks the largest margin of victory in a Champions League final in the tournament’s 70-year history (1955–2025).

 

14.    RBI ANNUAL REPORT 2024-25

·         The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Annual Report 2024-25 has been released and presented to the Central Government under the Section 53(2) of the RBI Act,1934.

·         The size of the balance sheet increased by 8.21% to Rs. 76.25 lakh crores as on March 31,2025.

·         A provision of Rs 44,861.70 crore was made and transferred to the Contingency Fund.

·         The income for the Financial Year (FY) 2025 increased by 22.77% to Rs 3.38 lakh crore.

·         Expenditure has also shown an increasing trend, with an increase of 7.76% to Rs 69,714.02 crore in 2024-25.

 

15.    RBI LAUNCHED ‘CLIMATE RISK DATA PLATFORM’

·         Reserve Bank of India (RBI) launched ‘Reserve Bank- Climate Risk Information System (RBI-CRIS)’, a two-pronged data platform aimed to fix persistent gaps in climate-related financial information.

·         The new data platform will comprise two parts: a web-based directory listing various data sources such as meteorological, geo-spatial which will be publicly accessible in the RBI website.

·         restricted-access data portal will offer processed, standardized datasets to regulated Financial Institutions (FIs).

·         It aims to fix and standardize 3 data gaps: physical risk, transition risk, and carbon emission.

·         Indian FIs faces two main categories of climate risk i.e. physical risk which arises from natural disasters like: floods, droughts, cyclones, and Tsunamis.

·         Another one is transition risk which stems from shifts in policy, technology, or market sentiment as the world moves toward a low-carbon economy.

·         RBI comprises 4 Deputy Governors:  M. Rajeshwar Rao, T. Rabi Sankar, Swaminathan J. and Dr. Poonam Gupta.
