INDIA’S BANK DEPOSIT GROWTH
SLOWS TO 10.6%
·
RBI released data showing that bank
deposit growth in India slowed to 10.6% Year-on-Year
(YoY) in Financial Year 2024–25 (FY25), compared to 13% in
FY24.
·
Term Deposit (TD): TD continued to make up the largest share of total deposits,
accounting for 59.5 % in FY25
·
The share
of TD offering 7% or higher interest
rates increased significantly to 72.7% in March 2025.
·
Large Deposits of TD (Rs.1 crore and above)
accounted for 45.1% of total TD in March 2025.
·
Savings Deposits: Share dropped to 29.1% in
FY25.
·
Current Deposits: Remained steady at 9.8% in
FY25.
·
Households continued to be the primary contributors to bank
deposits, making up 60.2% of the total in March 2025.
·
Within
household deposits, female depositors
held a 20.7% share.
·
Senior citizens’ deposits constituted 20.2% of the total deposits.
·
Metropolitan areas experienced the highest deposit growth at 11.7% in March 2025.
·
Rural
areas recorded a growth of 10.1%, semi-urban areas at 8.9%, and urban centers
at 9.3%.

The 2025 theme of Global Day of
Parents is “Raising Parents”, underscores the notion
that parenting is a learned skill requiring time, resources, and support.

General Assembly proclaimed 1994 as the International
Year of the and designated 15th May as
the International Day of Families .
·
Global Day of Parents was proclaimed in 2012 to
be observed annually on 1st June.

WORLD BICYCLE DAY 2025 –
JUNE 3
·
The
United Nations (UN’s) World Bicycle Day is observed
annually across the globe on June 3 to emphasize the
bicycle’s role as a simple, affordable, reliable, clean, and environmentally
sustainable means of transportation.
·
The day
also highlighted the bicycle’s contribution to health, education, and social
inclusion, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

WORLD ENVIRONMENT
DAY 2025 – JUNE 5

The
United Nations (UN’s) World Environment Day (WED) is
annually observed across the globe on June 5 to
promote awareness and action towards environmental protection and
sustainability.
·
The theme for WED 2025 was “Beat Plastic Pollution“,
emphasizing the urgent need to address plastic waste’s detrimental impacts on
ecosystems, wildlife, and human health.
·
The Republic
of Korea hosts the global celebrations for the second time,
having previously hosted in 1997.
