Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan), was
crowned Miss Universe India 2025 in a grand finale held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

She will represent India at the 74th Miss
Universe pageant, scheduled for November 2025 at Thailand.

PFA AWARD 2025

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah (Egypt) has
been named as the Professional
Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year Award for 2024-25.
·
He has become the 1st ever player in the history of football as well as 1st Egyptian footballer to win
this title for the 3rd time
(in 2018,2022 and 2025).
·
Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey (Spain) has
been named the PFA Women’s Player of the Year
Award for 2024-25.
·
The official ceremony for PFA Awards for
2024-25 was held at the United Kingdom (UK).
·
James Trafford (Manchester City)
has become the 1st goalkeeper to be named the PFA Championship Player of the Year Award.

Sir Gareth Southgate and Emma
Hayes OBE named as the recipient of the PFA Merit Award for 2025.
·
Aston Villa midfielder Morgan
Rogers won the PFA Men’s
Young Player of the Year title for 2025.

Canadian forward Olivia
Smith (from Arsenal) has been named PFA Women’s Young Player of the Year Award.

WORLD HUMANITARIAN DAY 2025 –
AUGUST 19

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is
observed globally on 19 August each year to honour humanitarian
workers, including those killed or injured while helping the most
vulnerable.
·
Theme 2025: “Strengthening
global solidarity and empowering local communities”.
·
Why August 19? On
19 August 2003, a suicide truck bombing targeted the United Nations (UN)
headquarters at the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, killing 22 people, including UN
Special Representative Sérgio Vieira de Mello.

SadbhavanaDiwas or
Harmony Day is observed on August 20 every year in India
with the intention of promoting peace, unity, and harmony among the various
religions and communities.

Sadbhavana Diwas was first observed on August
20, 1992, in memory of Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated in 1991.

World Mosquito Day (WMD) is
observed globally every year on 20th August to commemorate the
discovery by British Doctor Sir Ronald Ross in 1897 that
female Anopheles mosquitoes
transmit malaria between humans.
·
On 20th August 1897, Sir Ronald Ross discovered the malaria parasite
in the stomach of female Anopheles mosquitoes
in Secunderabad (Telangana, India).
·
He received the 1902 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, becoming the first
Briton to be awarded for malaria research.

·
World Senior Citizen’s Day is
observed every year on 21st August worldwide to
honour and acknowledge the valuable contributions of senior citizens to
society.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE REMEMBRANCE OF THE SLAVE TRADE AND
ITS ABOLITION 2025-AUG 23
·
The United Nations (UN)
International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is
observed every year on 23rd August to honour the
memory of all people who suffered under
the transatlantic slave trade during the colonial era.
·
The annual observance is led by the United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
·
On the night of 23 August 1791,
self-liberated enslaved people in Saint
Domingue (present-day Haiti and
Dominican Republic) launched a revolt against French colonial rule.

·
The National Space Day (NSpD) is
observed across India on 23 August to honor the
historic success of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO’s)Chandrayaan-3 Mission and the successful
deployment of the ‘Pragyan Rover’.

2025 Theme: “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan:
Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities”.

As part of the celebrations,, ISRO organized the two-day National Space
Meet 2.0 on the theme “Leveraging

LORD SWRAJ PAUL PASSED AWAY
·
Lord Swraj Paul,
a prominent Non-Resident Indian (NRI)
industrialist, philanthropist, and member
of the House of Lords in the United Kingdom (UK), passed away in London at
the age of 94.
·
He was born on 18th February 1931,
Jalandhar (Punjab).
·
In 1983, he was honoured with the Padma
Bhushan, India’s third-highest
civilian award, in recognition of his significant contributions to
social work.
·
He Founded the Ambika Paul
Foundation, supporting global initiatives in child welfare, health,
and education.
