1.       FIRST WOMAN CJ OF MEGHALAYA HC

·         Justice Revati Mohite-Dere, was sworn in as the first woman Chief Justice(CJ) of Meghalaya HC with oath of office administered by Governor of Meghalaya.

·         HC judges in India are appointed by the President under Article 217 of the Constitution of India.

 


2.       META PRESIDENT

·         Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meta Platforms Inc announced the appointment of Dina Powell McCormick as its new President and Vice Chairman.

·         She served as Deputy National Security Advisor(NSA) under President Donald Trump and held senior White House and State Department roles under President George W. Bush.

 

3.       INDIA’S NON-FOSSIL FUEL CAPACITY REACHES 266.78 GW IN 2025

·         Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) released data, highlighting India’s non-fossil fuel electricity capacity, encompassing solar, wind, hydro, bioenergy and other clean sources, reached 266.78 Gigawatt (GW) in 2025, marking a 22.6% increase from 2024.

·         It encompasses solar power of 131.81 GW (approximately 38.8% growth), wind energy (54.51 GW) (approximately 13.2% growth), bioenergy (11.61 GW), small hydro (5.16 GW), and large hydro including pumped storage (50.91 GW).

·         In 2025, India added 48 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) including hydropower.

·         The 2025 achievement represents over 50% progress, placing alongside China and the United States of America (USA).

·         The achievement aligns with the goal of Government of India (GOI) to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.

·         It also strengthens GOI’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and Net Zero emission by 2070.

 

4.       INDIA’S FISH PRODUCTION DOUBLES IN A DECADE

·         The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAHD) reported that India’s fish production more than doubled over the past decade, rising 106% from 95.79 lakh tonnes in Financial Year (FY) 2013-14 (FY14) to 197.75 lakh tonnes in FY 2024-25 (FY25).

·         India, the world’s second-largest fish producer contributing 8% to global output, ranks second in aquaculture, leads in shrimp production and exports, and is the second-largest producer in capture fisheries.

·         Fisheries sector contributes 7.43% to Agriculture Gross Value Added (GVA) since 2014-15, one of the highest among Agri & Allied sectors.

·         74.66 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities created since 2014-15.

·         Since 2014-15, projects worth Rs 32,723 crore have been approved under various fisheries schemes, with total investments under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PMMKSSY), Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF), and the Blue Revolution reaching Rs 38,572 crore.

 

5.       GERMAN CHANCELLOR VISIT TO INDIA

·         The Federal Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz was on a two-day official visit to India marking his first official visit to India and the Asian region.

·         Friedrich Merz and PM Narendra Modi visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad(Gujarat), the residence of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation and paid floral tributes.

·         Friedrich Merz and PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the International Kite Festival 2026, at the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad as part of Gujarat’s traditional Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti celebrations.

·         Both leaders held a high-level bilateral meeting in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, to review the India–Germany Strategic Partnership, which has recently completed 25 years.

·         During German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to India, 19 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and Joint Declarations were signed between India and Germany including Visa-free transit for Indian passport holders from Germany, Track 1.5 Foreign Policy and Security Dialogue establishment, Work Plan of the India-Germany Digital Dialogue (2025-2027) adoption.

 

6.       NITI AAYOG’S EXPORT PREPAREDNESS INDEX 2024

·         Chief Executive Officer (CEO) B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog released the 4th edition of the Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2024 a comprehensive assessment of the export readiness and performance of Indian States and Union Territories (UTs).

·         Maharashtra has emerged as the top-ranked large state with 68.01 Score, followed by Tamil Nadu (TN) with 64.41 and Gujarat with 64.02.

·         Among the smaller states, Uttarakhand holds the top position with 52.07, followed by Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) with 51.08 and Nagaland with 46.42.

·         Export performance for Financial Year 2021-22 (FY2022)–FY 2024 is assessed using an indicator-based, normalized, and weighted methodology, enhanced in 2024 for greater robustness, comparability, and policy relevance.

·         States and UTs are divided into Large States, Small States, North Eastern States, and UTs.

·         Entities are classified as Leaders (high preparedness), Challengers (moderate preparedness), or Aspirers (early-stage ecosystem development) within their peer groups.

·         It Provides an evidence-based tool to support India’s goal of USD 1 trillion in merchandise exports by 2030.

·         The EPI 2024 is structured around 4 pillars, 13 sub-pillars, and 70 indicators.

·         The four core pillars are Export Infrastructure, Business Ecosystem, Policy & Governance, and Export Performance. 

·         Export Preparedness Index (EPI): First launched in 2020, the EPI assesses State and district-level export readiness through an evidence-based framework. 

 

7.       LOGO, THEME AND WEBSITE OF BRICS INDIA CHAIRSHIP 2026

·         The Union Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), unveiled the logo, theme and official website of India’s BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Chairship 2026 

·         India assumed the BRICS Chairship from 1 January to 31 December 2026, marking its fourth tenure and coinciding with the 20th anniversary of BRICS.

·         Theme: India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 is guided by the theme Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”

·         Logo: The BRICS India 2026 logo is inspired by the lotus flower and blends tradition with modernity to reflect inclusivity, dialogue, and shared growth.

·         The official website brics2026.gov.in was launched as a central platform for information dissemination during India’s Chairship.

 

8.       INDIA’S FIRST SOVEREIGN AI PARK IN CHENNAI

·         The Government of Tamil Nadu (TN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sarvam AI to establish India’s first full-stack Sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) Park in Chennai, TN.

·         The project will receive an initial investment of around Rs. 10,000 crore and is projected to generate over 1,000 high‑skilled deep‑tech jobs.

·         The Sovereign AI Park will be developed as a dedicated AI district, integrating high-performance AI computing infrastructure, secure data frameworks, advanced research and model training labs, and innovation clusters.

 

9.       WORLD’S LARGEST GREEN HYDROGEN & AMMONIA PROJECT

·         Andhra Pradesh (AP) Chief Minister(CM). N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Konidala Pawan Kalyan laid the foundation stone for the world’s largest green hydrogen and green ammonia plants at Kakinada, AP.

·         The mega project, being developed by AM Green, a company of the Greenko Group, will transform an existing ammonia–urea complex into an integrated green hydrogen and green ammonia.

·         The project, with an estimated investment of USD 10 billion (Rs. 84,000-Crore).

·         The project has a total planned capacity of 1.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of green ammonia.
