1.       CHAIRMAN OF AERB

·         The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, appointed distinguished scientist A. K. Balasubrahmanian as the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), India’s apex nuclear safety regulator, for three years.

·         AERB It was constituted on November 15, 1983 by the former President of India, Giani Zail Singh under the Atomic Energy Act(AEA), 1962, and is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

 


2.       INDIA’S AYUSH SYSTEM RECOGNISED IN BILATERAL AGREEMENTS WITH OMAN, NEW ZEALAND

·         The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoC&I) announced India’s traditional medical system Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), formally recognised in bilateral agreements, including India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

·         The announcement was made during the AYUSH Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL)’s 4th establishment anniversary celebrations held in New Delhi

·         It was formally launched in April 2022 by PM Narendra Modi during the Global AYUSH Investment and Innovation Summit held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

 

3.       INDIA-PAKISTAN EXCHANGE NUCLEAR LISTS

·         India and Pakistan exchanged the list of Nuclear Installations and Facilities through diplomatic channels simultaneously at New Delhi and Islamabad (Pakistan), marking the 35th consecutive exchange of such lists between the two countries.

·         The exchange was made under the Agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations and Facilities between two countries.

·         The agreement was signed between India and Pakistan on December 31, 1988 and however, it came into force on January 27, 1991.

·         The 1st exchange of such lists between the two countries took place on January 01, 1992.

·         Apart from nuclear installations and facilities, both countries also exchanged a list of prisoners under the consular access pact signed on May 21, 2008.

·         The Government of Pakistan handed over a list of 257 Indian prisoners which include 199 fishermen and 58 other civilians in its custody.

 

4.       SC OF INDIA SIGNS MOU WITH SC OF BHUTAN

·         Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant announced that the Supreme Court of India(SCI) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Supreme Court of Bhutan(SCB) to facilitate the exchange of young legal professionals and strengthen judicial cooperation between the two nations, in New Delhi

·         The initiative aims to provide practical exposure and promote knowledge sharing between the judiciaries.
Two law clerks from Bhutan will be engaged by the SCI for a three-month tenure in New Delhi

·         The Bhutanese clerks will receive the same honorarium as Indian law clerks.

 

5.       INDIAN NAVY TO ESTABLISH NEW NAVAL BASE AT HALDIA

·         The Indian Navy (IN) initiated the establishment of a new naval base (detachment) at Haldia, West Bengal (WB), to strengthen its operational presence, maritime surveillance, and rapid response capabilities in the Bay of Bengal (BOB) amid evolving regional security dynamics.

·         Located on the Hooghly River near the Haldi River, 130 kilometer (km) from the Sandheads, the base

·         leverages the Haldia Dock Complex with a jetty, admin-logistics facilities, and accommodation for ~100 personnel.

·         The facility will primarily support small, high-speed warships such as Fast Interceptor Crafts (FICs) and New Water Jet Fast Attack Crafts (NWJFACs), aligned with Defence Acquisition Council (DAC)-cleared procurement to boost coastal security.

·         India’s existing naval commands are the Western Naval Command (WNC) in Mumbai (Maharashtra), the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh, AP), and the Southern Naval Command (SNC) for training in Kochi (Kerala).

 

6.       INDIA’S FIRST FULLY PAPERLESS DISTRICT COURT 

·         Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant virtually inaugurated India’s first fully paperless district court system in Kalpetta, Wayanad, Kerala

·         The digital platform was developed in‑house by the Kerala High Court(HC) and incorporates Artificial Intelligence (AI)‑based judicial assistance tools.

·         All judicial proceedings, from filing to final judgment, are conducted electronically using a centralized digital system.

 

7.       WORLD’S FIRST COUNTRY TO COMMERCIALLY PRODUCE BIO-BITUMEN

·         Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), announced India has become the first country globally to commercially produce bio-bitumen at Council of Scientific Industrial Research(CSIR) Technology Transfer (TT) ceremony titled “From Farm Residue to Roads” in New Delhi

·         It is a binder material for road construction made by converting agricultural waste such as paddy straw and other crop residues into bio-oil through a pyrolysis process, which is then blended with conventional bitumen.

·         With 15% blending, India can save nearly Rs. 4,500 crore in foreign exchange and substantially reduce its dependence on imported crude oil.

 

8.       ‘PANKHUDI PORTAL’ FOR WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT

·         Union Minister Annapurna Devi, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), launched the ‘PANKHUDI’, an integrated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and partnership facilitation digital portal, in New Delhi

·         A single-window integrated digital portal designed to facilitate CSR and partnerships by unifying voluntary and institutional contributions for women and child welfare.

·         It will Brings together individuals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), corporates, and Central and State Government agencies on one platform.

·         It Provides real-time tracking and a unified digital workflow to improve coordination, ensuring transparency through non-cash contributions and a complete digital audit trail.

·         It Covers nutrition, health, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), child welfare, protection, rehabilitation, and women’s safety and empowerment.

 

9.       UIDAI LAUNCHES AADHAAR MASCOT ‘UDAI’

·         Neelkanth Mishra, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), unveiled a new Aadhaar mascot named “Udai”, as part of its efforts to strengthen public outreach, awareness, and trust in Aadhaar-related services, at an event in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

·         The mascot design was created by Arun Gokul from Thrissur (Kerala).

·         The name “Udai”, symbolizing progress, growth, and empowerment, was suggested by Riya Jain from Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh).

·         Udai is intended as a resident-facing communication companion to make Aadhaar-related information more relatable, clear, and user-friendly.

·         The mascot will be used to explain topics such as Aadhaar enrollment and updates, authentication and offline verification, selective sharing of information, and responsible use and responsible use and new technology adoption.

 

10.    AKASA AIR TO JOIN IATA

·         Akasa Air became the 5th Indian member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global body representing over 360 airlines and more than 80% of global air traffic.

·         The IATA is a global trade association representing the airline industry.

·         The other four Indian carriers that are IATA members are Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, and SpiceJet.
