1.       MYANMAR PRESIDENT

·         Min Aung Hlaing, Senior General and former Commander-in-Chief of the Tatmadaw (Armed Forces of Myanmar), was elected as the 11th President of Myanmar by the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (Assembly of the Union), the legislature of Myanmar.

·         Min Aung Hlaing won 429 of 584 votes, while Nan Ni Ni Aye, regional Member of Parliament (MP) from Karen State, and U Nyo Saw were elected as Vice-Presidents of Myanmar.

 


2.       VIETNAM PRESIDENT

·         To Lam, General Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), was unanimously re-elected as the President of Vietnam by the National Assembly of Vietnam (NA) during its 16th session, securing a new five-year term.

·         The NA elected TôLâm (To Lam) as President with 100% support (495/495 deputies present) in the 500-seat assembly.

·         Le Minh Hung, was elected as Prime Minister (PM) of Vietnam.

 

3.       NASSCOM CHAIRPERSON

·         The Nasscom Foundation announced the appointment of UB Pravin Rao as its new Chairperson.

·         NASSCOM (National Association of Software and Service Companies), established in 1988, is the apex trade body for India's IT-BPM industry, driving policy advocacy, skill development, and innovation.

·         Headquarter- Noida.

 

4.       KARMAYOGI SADHANA SAPTAH 2026 FOR CIVIL SERVANTS

·         Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the ‘Karmayogi Sadhana Saptah 2026’, a national learning week initiative under Mission Karmayogi celebrating its five-year milestone.

·         The programme is built on three pillars: Technology, Tradition, and Tangible Outcomes.

 

5.       CBDT LAUNCHES ‘KAR SAATHI’ WEBSITE

·         The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), under the Department of Revenue (DoR), Ministry of Finance (MoF), launched a new website and an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered assistant called ‘Kar Saathi’ to simplify the procedure of tax filing.

·         The launch of the web portal coincides with a nationwide awareness campaign, Policy Reform and Responsible Action for Mission Viksit Bharat (PRARAMBH 2026).

·         It includes an AI chatbot that provides instant tax-related information in both Hindi and English.

 

6.       INDIA, SOUTH KOREA SIGN PACT IN SHIPBUILDING SECTOR

·         The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) signed a Plan of Implementation (PoI) with South Korea’s Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in New Delhi(Delhi) to enhance skill development in India’s shipbuilding and maritime sector.

·         The agreement aligns with the objectives of the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision (MAKV) 2047, aimed at strengthening India’s global maritime position.

 

7.       MOE DECLARES NCERT AS ‘DEEMED TO BE UNIVERSITY’

·         The Ministry of Education (MoE), through its Department of Higher Education (DHE), declared the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) as a ‘Deemed to be University’ under a distinct category as per Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956.

·         NCERT can now offer Diploma, Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), and specialised programmes while continuing curriculum development.

 

8.       MIB NOTIFIES TV RATING POLICY 2026 

·         The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) notified the ‘Television (TV) Rating Policy (TRP 2026)’, replacing the existing 2014 guidelines TV governing audience measurement in India.

·         As per TRP 2026, any viewership arising out of landing page will be excluded in viewership measurement.

·         The policy mandates that at least 50% of the Board must be independent directors with no links to broadcasters or advertisers, and prohibits consultancy roles to prevent conflicts of interest.

·         MIB has eased the minimum net worth requirement for a company willing to register as TV rating agency from existing Rs 20 crore to Rs.5 crore.

·         As per the notification, TV rating agencies are now required to scale up their operations to 80,000 metered(m) homes within 18 months (6 months for existing rating agencies), with a long-term goal of 1.20 lakh homes.

 

9.       RUSSIA’S FIRST DEPUTY PM VISITED INDIA

·         Denis Manturov, first Deputy Prime Minister (PM) of Russia, was on two-day official visit to India
During his visit, he co-chaired the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation (IRIGC-TEC) along with Union Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi.

·         The IRIGC-TEC serves as a key institutional mechanism to review and advance strategic economic ties between the two countries.

 

10.    NITI AAYOG’S AIM LAUNCHES ATL SARTHI & MENTOR INDIA ACADEMY

·         The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog)’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) launched two new initiatives, Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) Sarthi and Mentor India Academy at Vardhaman College of Engineering in Hyderabad, Telangana.

·         ATL Sarthi is a comprehensive capacity-building programme for ATL in-charges and educators, while the Mentor India Academy serves as an advanced training platform for mentors under AIM’s Mentor India initiative.

·         NITI Aayog has designated Vardhaman College of Engineering as the nodal institution for the state, providing technical assistance, mentorship, teacher training and support for incubation and entrepreneurship.

 

11.    GOI NOTIFIES AMARAVATI NOW SOLE CAPITAL OF ANDHRA PRADESH

·         The Ministry of Law & Justice (MoL&J) formally notified Amaravati as the exclusive capital of Andhra Pradesh (AP) after both houses of Parliament i.e. Lok Sabha (Lower House) and Rajya Sabha (Upper House), passed Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Act, 2026 and received presidential assent.

·         With passage of the Amendment Act and President’s assent, Amaravati will now be the permanent capital city of AP.

 

12.    NBA NOTIFIES CMLRE & ARI AS NATIONAL REPOSITORIES

·         The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), notified two institutions, Referral Centre Bhavasagara at the Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE) (Kochi, Kerala) and MACS Collection of Microorganisms and National Fungal Culture Collection at Agharkar Research Institute(ARI), Pune, Maharashtra, as national repositories under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity (BD Act, 2002).

·         Following the inclusion of these two institutions, the national network of repositories has now increased to 20.

·         Referral Centre Bhavasagara at CMLRE: It is a specialized national facility dedicated to deep-sea biodiversity, working under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

·         MACS Collection of Microorganisms (ARI, Pune): It is a well-established facility with specialization in preserving microbial cultures.

·         National Fungal Culture Collection of India (ARI, Pune): It is a leading national repository dedicated to fungal diversity.
