1. GERMANY TO DEVELOP BHUBANESWAR, KOCHI, COIMBATORE AS SMART CITIES
i. Germany has decided to partner with India’s smart city programme to develop smart cities.
ii.IT will  help to develop Kochi in Kerala, Bhubaneswar in Odisha and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu as smart cities.
iii.The decision was taken after Union Government had invited Germany to be a partner in its Smart Cities programme in 2015.

2. MARIA SHARAPOVA PROVISIONALLY SUSPENDED AFTER FAILING DRUGS TEST AT AUSTRALIAN OPEN
i. Former world number one female tennis player Maria Sharapova from Russia has failed in a drugs test at the Australian Open.
ii.The International Tennis Federation has provisionally suspended her due to her failure in antidoping test.
iii.World Anti-Doping Agency is a foundation created through a collective initiative led by the International Olympic Committee to promote, coordinate and monitor the fight against drugs in sports.

3. AMRITA PATEL HONOURED WITH MAHINDRA LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
i. Dr Amrita Patel has been honoured with the Mahindra Samriddi India Agri Lifetime Achievement Aear-Krishi Shiromani Samman in New Delhi.
ii.Dr Patel is a former Chairman of National Dairy Development Board
iii. She played a important role in the implementation of Operation Flood, the largest development programme in the world.

4. INDIAN MEN AND WOMEN WON GOLD AT WORLD TEAM TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Indian men's and women's team grabbed the gold medals at the World Team Table Tennis Championship held in Kuala Lumpur.
ii. In the women's team Mouma Das defeated Danielle Konsbruck , Manika Batra defeated Tessy Gonderinger.

5. INDIA TO HOST BRICS FRIENDSHIP CITIES CONCLAVE
i. India is going to host BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave in Mumbai.
ii.It will be attended by the top Urban Policy makers and Planners from BRICS Nations viz. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
iii. The three-day conclave will be organised by Mumbai First a think-tank working to find solutions for city’s development.

6. UNFPA AND UNICEF LAUNCHED GLOBAL PROGRAMME TO ACCELERATE ACTION TO END CHILD MARRIAGE
i. The United Nations Population Fund and the United Nations Children's Emergency Fund jointly launched the Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage.
ii.It is a multi country initiative and is part of a global effort to prevent girls from marrying them in  young age.
iii.It will help to protect the rights of millions of the world’s most vulnerable girls by involving families, communities, governments and young people in the programme.

7. ICICI BANK LAUNCHED IWORK@HOME PROGRAMME FOR ITS WOMEN EMPLOYEES
i.ICICI Bank  launched iWork@Home programme for its women employees to prevent them from dropping out of its workforce.
ii.The iWork@Home is an information and communication technology initiative that will enable employees work from home.
iii. It allows women employees to have access to their required operating systems in a safe and secure manner by creating a seamless office-like environment.

8. MAHINDRA GROUP CMD ANAND MAHINDRA CONFERRED FRANCE’S KNIGHT OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR
i. Chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Group Anand G Mahindra was conferred with the Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur .
