1. UNION CABINET APPROVED MOU BETWEEN INDIA & UK ON COOPERATION IN GOVERNANCE REFORMS
i. The Union Cabinet gave its approval for the Memorandum of Understanding between India and United Kingdom on cooperation in governance reforms.
ii. It will promote bilateral cooperation in public administration and governance reforms between both the countries.
iii. Under this MoU countries will share good governance practices in public administration, reducing bureaucracy in service delivery and government process re-engineering.

2. CCEA APPROVED SETTING UP OF OVER 5000 MW OF GRID-CONNECTED SOLAR PV POWER PROJECTS
i. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its approval for setting up over 5000 MW of Solar PV Power Projects.
ii. The total investments expected under the scheme is about 30000 crore rupees.
iii. It will help in employment generation for people in rural and urban areas with reduction of CO2 emissions into environment every year.

3. CCEA APPROVED SIX LANING OF NH-2 IN BIHAR AND JHARKHAND
i. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved development of the six laning on National Highway-2 in Bihar and Jharkhand.
ii. It will be developed by the National Highways Development Project Phase-V.
iii. The main aim of the project is to improve infrastructure and to reduce the time and cost of travel for traffic in Bihar and Jharkhand.

4. BIHAR CABINET APPROVED 35 PERCENT RESERVATION FOR WOMEN IN GOVERNMENT JOBS
i. The Bihar Cabinet approved 35 percent reservation for women in all government jobs in the state.
ii. The 35 percent reservation for women will be applicable to in all government jobs including reserved and unreserved category.

5. SEX RATIO DECLINED AND LITERACY RATE OF WOMEN UP A REPORT BY FAMILY HEALTH SURVEY
i. According to the latest national family health survey known as NFHS-4 the sex ratio in many states in India has significantly decreased.
ii. In the recent years the sex ratio has significantly decreased and women’s literacy has increased.
iii. According to the survey there are 985 females per 1,000 males in 2015-16 compared to 1,000 females per 1,000 males in 2005-06.

6. MAMTA BINANI ELECTED PRESIDENT OF ICSI
i. Mamta Binani has been elected President of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India  for 2016.
ii. The Institute of Company Secretaries of India is set up under an Act of Parliament known as company Secretaries Act, 1980.
iii. The main purpose of ICSE is to regulate and develop the profession of company secretary in India
