1. 18TH EDITION OF ASIA’S LARGEST CONVENTION ON THE BUSINESS OF MEDIA AND ENTERTAINMENT “FICCI FRAMES-2017”
i. The 3 day 18th edition of FICCI Frames was inaugurated by Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez in the presence of Union Information and Broadcasting Secretary Ajay Mittal in Mumbai.
ii. This year theme was ‘Digital: Divide or dividend’.
iii. The annual Conference of Media and Entertainment Industry is one of the largest conference in Asia.

2. 23RD CONFERENCE OF AUDITORS GENERAL OF COMMONWEALTH COUNTRIES AND BRITISH OVERSEAS TERRITORIES HELD IN NEW DELHI
i. For the 1st time India host the 3 day Conference of Auditors General of Commonwealth Countries and British Overseas Territories from March 21-23, 2017 in New Delhi.
ii. Theme of the conference was “Fostering Partnerships for Capacity Development in Public Audit”.
iii. An Auditors General of Tanzania and Canada held discussion with 2 sub-themes -Leveraging Technology in Public Audit, and Environment Audit: A Commonwealth Perspective.
iv. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley participated in the conference. 22nd Conference of Auditors General of Commonwealth Countries and British Overseas Territories was held in Malta in 2014.


3. MEGHALAYA ASSEMBLY PASSED RS 13,048 CR BUDGET FOR 2017-18
i. The CM of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma, who also holds the finance portfolio, presented Rs 13,048 cr annual budget for the year 2017-18 in the state Assembly.
ii. Meghalaya Budget has also done away with the Plan and Non-Plan expenditure to comply with the budgetary framework of the Union Government.
iii. Total Expenditure: Rs 12,873 cr (including repayment of loans for Rs. 335 cr), Capital Expenditure: Rs 2,225 cr, Revenue Expenditure: Rs 10,648 cr.
iv. Fiscal Deficit: Rs 1,236 cr (3.8% the states Gross State Domestic Product), Revenue Receipt: Rs 2,072 cr, State’s own tax revenue: Rs 1,559 cr. 
v. The CM has proposed to constitute a Meghalaya Media Society to look into the welfare of journalists.
vi. He also proposed a new scheme to provide accommodation facility for the senior accredited journalists of the state.

4. UNION PETROLEUM MINISTER DHARMENDRA PRADHAN LAUNCHES MOPNG E SEVA
i. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum and Natural Gas launched MoPNG e-Seva, a dedicated grievances redressal platform across Social Media to address all queries and grievances relating to Oil and Gas Sector via social media.
iii. The portal will act as a single point interface for all customers to reach out to the government for addressing their feedback or grievances.
iv. It will also deliver 24 x 7 support for consumers. The grievance redress mechanism will aim at addressing complaints within 48 hours.

5. SBI CHAIRMAN ARUNDHATI BHATTACHARYA RANKS 26 IN FORTUNE’S WORLD’S 50 GREATEST LEADERS 2017
i. Fortune Magazine released their 4th annual ranking of the World’s 50 Greatest Leaders 2017.
ii. State Bank of India’s Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya has been ranked 26 among 50 leaders while Indian-origin physician Raj Panjabi, founder and CEO of Last Mile Health, have been placed at 28th position.
iii. Theo Epstein, President of Baseball Operations at Chicago Cubs is at 1st position and Jack Ma,Alibaba Group Executive Chairman is at 2nd position.

6. BHEL COMMISSIONS 250 MW PLANT IN ASSAM
i. New Delhi based Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has commissioned a 250 MW coal-based thermal power unit at North East’s largest coal based power plant Bongaigaon Thermal Power Station in Assam.
ii. This power station has been set up after demolishing an old power station of Assam State Electricity Board.

7. NOTED TAMIL LITTERATEUR THIAGARAJAN POPULARLY KNOWN AS ASOKAMITRAN PASSES AWAY
i. Noted Tamil litterateur and Sahitya Akademi winner Thiagarajan passed away in Chennai.
ii. He is popularly known by his pen name, Asokamitran .
iii. He penned nearly 8 novels, 20 novellas, hundreds of short stories, commentaries on a wide range of issues, and profiles of personalities.
iv. “18-vadhu Atchakkodu”, translated into English as “The Eighteenth Parallel“, is one of his highly acclaimed novels. He won Sahitya Akademi Award in 1996 for his work “Appavin Snegithargal”

8. COFFEE TABLE BOOK TITLED “50 YEARS – THE GREAT INDIAN MILK REVOLUTION” LAUNCHED
i. Shri Radha Mohan Singh, The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has launched the book titled “50 Years – The Great Indian Milk Revolution” to commemorate National Dairy Development Board’s Golden Jubilee year.
ii. This book summarizes NDDB’s remarkable 50-year journey and the value it has created for millions of dairy farmers in this country.

9. WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY: MARCH 24
i. World Tuberculosis Day is observed on March 24 every year across the world  to commemorates the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch astounded the scientific community by announcing that he had discovered the cause of tuberculosis, the TB bacillus.
ii. Its aim is to create awareness and support world-wide efforts to eliminate tuberculosis.
iii. This year theme was “Unite to End TB”.
iv. WHO data shows India has the most number of TB cases among the 6 countries that account for 60% of total cases worldwide.
