1.      OPPOSITION SUBMITS MOTION TO IMPEACH CHIEF JUSTICE DIPAK MISRA
i. seven opposition parties led by the Indian National Congress submitted a notice to the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President, M Venkaiah Naidu for the impeachment of Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra.
ii. According to reports, over 60 MPs of the Rajya Sabha belonging to seven different political parties gave the notice seeking the removal of the Chief Justice.
iii. The impeachment is demanded over the grounds of alleged improprieties including favouritism in allocating cases to benches in the Supreme Court.
Dipak Misra is the 45th Chief Justice of India.
iv. The procedure for the removal of a Supreme Court judge including the Chief Justice is laid down in Article 124(4) of the Constitution.


2.      DEEPIKA PADUKONE, VIRAT KOHLI AMONG TIME'S 100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE
i. The TIME Magazine released the 100 Most Influential People List of 2018 designating individuals whose time is now.
ii. The 2018 list features the names of four self-made Indians- Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal and Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella.
iii. The list also features the Heads of various countries such as Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un etc.

3.      JIM BRIDENSTINE CONFIRMED AS NASA CHIEF    
i. The US Senate  confirmed the appointment of Jim Bridenstine as the Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the US space agency. 
ii. He became the 13th Chief of NASA and his name is recommended by USA President.

4.      INDIA TO BID FOR 2026 YOUTH OLYMPICS
 i. The Indian Olympic Association has decided to bid for the 2026 Youth Olympics as well as the 2030 Asian Games and the 2032 Summer Olympics.
 The bidding process for the 2026 Youth Olympics is likely to start in early 2020.
ii. Germany and Australia have expressed their desire to bid for 2032 Olympics and more countries are expected to join the bid later.
       
5.      VICE-PRESIDENT INAUGURATES CIVIL SERVICES DAY EVENT IN NEW DELHI
i. Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the two-day Civil Services Day event in New Delhi.
ii. The Day focuses on the topic ‘Evolving Strategies for Transforming Aspirational Districts’.
iii. The Vice President also released a book 'Emulating Excellence- Takeaways for Replication'.
iv.  The day is celebrated for the civil servants to rededicate themselves to the cause of citizen and renew their commitments to public service and excellence in work.

6.      VIJAY GOEL LAUNCHES CENTRAL PROJECT MONITORING UNIT FOR E-VIDHAN PROJECT
i. Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel inaugurated the new office of Central Project Monitoring Unit for the e-Vidhan project of the Government at the Parliament House .
ii. This was done as a part of Swachhata Pakhwada being observed by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs
iii. e-Vidhan is a part of the broader Digital India Programme of the Government and is likely to contribute to the cleanliness and environment by reducing the use of papers to a great extent.
