1.       BARBADOS TO BECOME 1ST SOVEREIGN NATION TO HOST ITS EMBASSY ON THE METAVERSE

·            Barbados, a Caribbean island nation, is set to become the first sovereign nation to host its Embassy, the world’s first virtual-reality embassy, on the Metaverse.

·            Barbados has signed an agreement with Decentraland, a blockchain metaverse platform to establish a digital embassy in Decentraland, a company that hosts a user-owned, 3D digital world, comprised of 90,601 plots of ‘land’.

 

2.       72ND NATIONAL BOOK AWARDS

·            Jason Mott won the 2021 National Book Award for fiction for his novel “Hell of a Book

·            Tiya Miles has won the 2021 National Book Award for non fiction for her book titled “All That She Carried: The Journey of Ashley’s Sack, a Black Family Keepsake”.

·            Malinda Lo has won the 2021 National Book Award for young people’s literature for her book titled “Last Night at the Telegraph Club”

 

3.       SOURAV GANGULY APPOINTED AS THE NEW CHAIRMAN OF ICC CRICKET’S COMMITTEE

·            The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President and former cricketer Saurav Ganguly was appointed as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket Committee.He succeeded Anil Kumble

·            Johnny Grave, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cricket West Indies has been appointed to the ICC Women’s Cricket Committee.

 

4.       AB DE VILLIERS ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT FROM ALL FORMS OF CRICKET

·            South Africa Cricketer Abraham Benjamin de Villiers (AB de Villiers) has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket

·            He has played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the 2021 Indian Premier League(IPL).

·            He holds the record for fastest 50, 100 and 150 in ODI cricket and the record for the fastest ODI century in just 31 balls

 

5.       WORLD QUALITY DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 11

·            World Quality Day is annually observed across the globe on 2nd Thursday of November to offer an opportunity to focus on the significance of quality management in day to day life.

·            The theme for World Quality Day 2021 is “Sustainability: Improving Our Products, People, and Planet”.

 

6.       WORLD KINDNESS DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 13

·            World Kindness Day is annually observed across the globe on November 13 to highlight the act of kindness in the community.

 

7.       WORLD DIABETES DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 14

·            United Nations (UN) World Diabetes Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness of diabetes as a global public health issue.

·            Theme Access to Diabetes Care’ for 2021-2023.

·            On this day, famous buildings and monuments all over the world are lit up in blue to spread the message about World Diabetes day to people. The blue circle is the global symbol for diabetes awareness.

 

8.       CHILDREN’S DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 14

·            In India, Children’s Day or Bal Diwas is annually celebrated on 14th November, the birth anniversary of India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru. 

·            The Children’s Day 2021 marks the 132nd birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru who is fondly known as “Chacha Nehru”.

·            Since 1954, the United Nations(UN) has been observing the 20th November of every year as World Children’s Day also known as Universal Children’s Day.

 

9.       1ST JANJATIYA GAURAV DIVAS – 15TH NOVEMBER

·            India observed the first ever Janjatiya Gaurav Divas (Tribal Pride Day) on 15th November 2021.

·            The day marks the birth anniversary of Amar Shaheed Bhagwan Birsa Munda (Birsa Munda), a tribal leader who fought against British rule in India.

 

10.    INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR TOLERANCE - NOVEMBER 16

·            The ‘International Day of Tolerance’ is annually observed by the United Nations (UN) on the 16th of November.

·            The day marks the signing of the ‘Declaration of Principles of Tolerance‘ by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), on 16th November 1995.

11.    NATIONAL PRESS DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 16 

·            The National Press Day is annually observed across India on November 16th to mark the presence of an independent and responsible press in India.

12.    INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 17

·            International Students’ Day is annually observed on 17th November by the student’s community across the globe.

·            The day commemorates the anniversary of the 1939 Nazi attack on the University of Prague during World War II.

 

13.    WORLD PHILOSOPHY DAY 2021 – 18TH NOVEMBER

·            The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)‘s World Philosophy Day is celebrated annually across the world on the 3rd Thursday of November to promote the international culture of a healthy, philosophical debate that respects people’s dignity and diversity.

14.    WORLD TOILET DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 19

·            United Nations (UN)’s World Toilet Day is annually observed across the globe to create awareness about the importance of sanitation for all.

·            The World Toilet Day is organised by the UN-Water, the UN’s coordination mechanism on water and sanitation and Taskforce which includes the World Health Organisation(WHO).

·            The theme of World Toilet Day 2021 is “Valuing toilets”. 

 

15.    ‘NATIONAL INTEGRATION DAY’ - NOVEMBER 19

·            National Integration Day also known as ‘Quami Ekta Diwas’ is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of India’s first Woman Prime Minister (PM) – Indira Gandhi.

·            The theme of International Men’s Day 2021 is “Better relations between men and women”.
