RBI IMPOSES PENALTIES ON
INDIAN BANK, IOB AND MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA
·
RBI has
imposed penalties on three financial
institutions: Chennai, based Indian Bank(IB), Chennai
based Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Mumbaibased
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd (MMFSL) for
various regulatory non-compliances.
·
RBI imposed a fine of Rs.55 lakh on
Indian Bank for non-compliance with some directions on ‘Interest
Rate on Advances’, ‘Kissan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme’ and
‘Lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)
Sector.
·
IOB faced
a penalty of Rs.2.2 crore “non-compliance with
certain directions issued by RBI on ‘Credit Flow to Agriculture –
Collateral free agricultural loans’ and ‘Lending to Micro, Small
and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector.
·
MMFSL faced
a penalty of Rs.6.77 crore for non-compliance with
certain provisions of the ‘Non-Banking Financial Company Directions, 2016’ and
Reserve Bank of India (Know Your Customer (KYC)) Directions, 2016.

USE OF PRAVAAH PORTAL FROM
1ST MAY 2025

The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that starting
from 1st May 2025, all banks, financial
companies, and regulated entities must submit their applications for
regulatory authorisations, licences, and approvals exclusively
through the Platform for Regulatory
Application, Validation And Authorisation (PRAVAAH)
portal.
·
The RBI launched PRAVAAH as
a secure and centralised web-based
portal for any entity or individual to seek authorisation, license or regulatory approval on any reference made
by it to the Reserve Bank.
3.
RBI EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR
BIS-COMPLIANT NOTE SORTING MACHINES
·
The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has decided to extend the timeline for Banks to deploy the latest Bureau of Indian Standards
(BIS) standards Note Sorting Machines (NSM) by six months i.e. (that is), up to November 01, 2025.
·
Also, RBI
has directed banks and White Label ATM Operators(WLAOs) to ensure Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) dispense
Rs.100 and Rs.200 notes on a regular basis.
·
By September 30, 2025: 75 per cent of all ATMs shall dispense
either Rs. 100 or Rs. 200
denomination banknotes from at least one
cassette.

The theme for WMD 2025 is “Malaria
Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”, aiming to
re-energize efforts at all levels, from global policy to community action, to
accelerate progress towards malaria elimination.

DAY 2025 – APRIL 26
·
The date
marks the enforcement of the Convention Establishing the World
Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), came into
force in 1970.

The theme for World IP Day 2025 is “Music and IP:
Feel the Beat of IP.”
·
India secured
the 9th position globally in PCT filings
·
According to the 13th edition of
the International IP Index released by USA based U.S. Chamber of
Commerce, India maintained its 43rd position
out of 55 countries.

INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY 2025
– APRIL 29
·
The
observance is promoted by the Paris based International
Dance Council (CID) and the Shanghai based International Theatre Institute (ITI),
in association UNESCO.
·
The date April 29 was specifically chosen to
commemorate the birth anniversary of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810),
a renowned French dancer and
choreographer, recognized as the pioneer
of modern ballet.

AYUSHMAN BHARAT DIWAS 2025 –
APRIL 30
·
Ayushman Bharat Diwas is annually observed across India
on 30th April as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan to raise awareness about the objectives of
Ayushman Bharat
·
Prime Minister (PM) Narendra
Modi launched the scheme in Ranchi, Jharkhand on 23rd
September 2018.
·
The scheme consists of two interrelated
components Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana
(PM-JAY)

Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, former Chairman of the Indian
Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Padma
awardee, passed away
·
He led ISRO as its Chairman from 1994
to 2003.

He was
given Padma Vibhushan (2000), India’s second-highest civilian award
