the 70th edition of the Belgian Grand

100 YEARS OF INDIAN HOCKEY
·
Hockey India successfully
conducted its 15th Hockey India Congress in Mahabalipuram,
Tamil Nadu (TN), marking 100 years of
Indian hockey’s glorious journey.
·
The
Indian Hockey Federation(IHF), a national body for hockey, was officially formed on November
7, 1925, in Gwalior, Madhya
Pradesh (MP).
·
The Indian
Hockey Federation (IHF) was India’s governing body for hockey until its
suspension in 2008 over governance
issues.
·
To retain international recognition, the Indian Olympic Association formed Hockey
India on May 20, 2009, bringing both
men’s and women’s hockey under one body.

1ST INDIAN TO WIN FIDE WOMEN’S WORLD CUP 2025
·
Divya Deshmukh from Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, won
the 2025 FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs) Women’s
World Cup, by defeating India’s
Koneru Humpy in the finals held in Batumi, Georgia.
·
Divya becomes the First
Indian woman to win this tournament, and joins Alexandra Kosteniuk
(2021) and Aleksandra
Goryachkina (2023) as the third
Women’s World Cup champion.
·
The 2025 FIDE Women’s
World Cup witnessed participation from 107
players representing 46 countries, including
17 of the top 20 ranked women chess players.
·
The classical
format games between DivyaDeshmukh and Koneru Humpy ended in draws.
·
The final was decided in two 15+10 rapid tiebreak games,
where Divya won with a score of 1.5–0.5.
·
She received a prize of USD
50,000.
·
With this win, Divya becomes India’s 4th woman
and 88th overall to earn the Grandmaster (GM) title,
becoming one of the few players globally to earn the GM title directly by
winning a major FIDE event, without securing the usual three GM norms and 2500 rating.

Tan Zhongyi (China) defeated GM Lei Tingjie (China)
to secure the third position.

8TH COMMONWEALTH YOUTH GAMES
·
London,
England based Commonwealth Sport, formerly
known as the Commonwealth Games
Federation, announced that Malta will host
the 8th Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) in 2027.
·
The athletes will compete in eight sports such as Athletics and
para-athletics, netball, squash, swimming and para-swimming, triathlon, and
weightlifting.
·
Debut Sports will be Sailing and water polo.
·
India hosted the 3rd CYG in Pune
(Maharashtra) in 2008.

FIRST CHESS ESPORTS WORLD CUP TITLE
·
The Current World No.1 Grandmaster (GM), Magnus
Carlsen(Norway) of Team Liquid, claims the
first-ever Chess Esports World Cup, organised by
Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) at Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
·
He won the World Cup after defeating GM
Alireza Firouzja (France) of Team
Falcon in the Grand Final with a score of 2-0.
·
GM Hikaru Nakamura (USA) of
Team Falcons beats the Indian GM Arjun Erigaisi of
Gen. G Esports to secure third place in the event.
·
Total Prize pool USD 1.5 million
(approx 12.5 crore).
·
Chess Esports World Cup is
an abstract strategy chess game with 16 players
from 13 teams taking part in this tournament.
·
The Tournament has 12 players from the Champions Chess Tour(CCT) 2025 standings and 4
players from Last Chance Qualifiers.

DRDO CONDUCTS FLIGHT TESTS OF PRALAY MISSILE
·
The Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO) conducted two consecutive flight tests of
the indigenous ‘Pralay’ quasi-ballistic missile from
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island, off the
coast of Odisha.
·
Pralay is a short-range, solid-propellant, quasi-ballistic surface-to-surface
missile.
·
Range Capability is 150
to 500 kilometres .
·
It
Carries conventional warheads weighing 350 to 700 kilograms
(kg).
·
Its Payload Capacity is Between 500
to 1,000 kg.
·
Launch Platform: Mounted on
high-mobility vehicles with a twin-launcher configuration, allowing
rapid deployment along active borders.
·
DRDO
is the Research and Development (R&D) wing of the Ministry of

6TH FAST PATROL VESSEL ICGS - ATAL
·
Goa Shipment Limited (GSL),
a leading defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), operating under the
Ministry of Defence(MoD), launched ‘Indian
Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Atal’ (Yard 1275) in
Vasco-da-Gama, Goa.
·
This marks the sixth vessel in the series of eight Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) being
built for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG), aimed at
enhancing India’s maritime surveillance and bolstering coastal security.
·
So far, six out of the eight Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) have been launched
namely, ICGS Adamya, ICGS Akshar, ICGS Amulya, ICGS Akshay,
ICGS Achal, and ICGS Atal.
·
ICGS Atal, a vessel of the Adamya-class
Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), boasts over 60% indigenous content.
·
Measuring 52 meters(m) in length with an
8-m beam, the vessel has a displacement of approximately 320 tonnes.
·
It operates at a maximum speed of 27 knots with
the help of a controllable pitch propeller (CPP)-based
propulsion system.

NASA-ISRO NISAR SATELLITE SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED
·
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully
launched the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite aboard
the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)-F16 rocket from Satish
Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
·
This marks the first-ever
joint Earth observation mission between ISRO and the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of USA, with a joint investment exceeding USD 1.5 billion over 10+ years of
development.
·
It is the world’s first radar
imaging satellite to operate with dual-frequency
bands, L-band and S-band on a single
platform, enabling accurate monitoring of the cryosphere, ecosystems, and solid
Earth processes.
·
This mission marked the 18th launch of the GSLV and the 12th
using India’s indigenous cryogenic upper stage.
·
The
mission aims to provide high-resolution, day-and-night,
all-weather imagery across a 242-kilometer (km) swath,
scanning nearly all of Earth’s land and ice surfaces every 12 days.
·
NISAR total Mass: Approximately 2,392
kilograms .
·
Sun-synchronous
polar orbit at an altitude of around 747
kilometers (km), circling Earth 14 times daily.
·
Designed for a 5-year mission
life, with consumables supporting around 3 years of active operations.
9.
SPACEX LAUNCHES CREW-11 JOINT ASTRONAUTS TO
THE ISS FOR NASA
·
SpaceX successfully
launched its 11th operational astronaut mission for the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration(NASA), sending four astronauts aboard the ‘Crew Dragon Endeavour spacecraft’ on
a Falcon 9 rocket to the International Space Station (ISS).
·
It was launched from Launch Complex 39A at
Kennedy Space Centre, United States of America (USA).
·
The Crew-11 mission comprises 4 astronauts
: Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke from USA, KimiyaYui from Japan (JAXA), and Oleg Platonov from Russia (Roscosmos).
·
It is the NASA Crew program, in collaboration with other space agencies,
including Japan Aerospace
Exploration Agency (JAXA) and Russian
Space Agency (ROSCOSMOS), to send astronauts to the ISS. |
·
The mission is scheduled to last between 6 to 8 months, making it a long-duration
spaceflight.
·
This flight coincides with the 25th anniversary of
continuous human presence on the ISS,
which is to be celebrated in November 2025.
