1. SEBI EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF NOMINATION FRAMEWORK
·
The Securities and Exchange Board of
India (SEBI) has extended the timeline for the
implementation of the 2nd and 3rd phases
of its new nomination framework in the securities market.
·
Its Objective is To simplify
nomination process for mutual fund folios and demat accounts.
·
New Timelines: As per SEBI’s
circular, the implementation date for phase-II of the framework, originally
scheduled for June 01, 2025, has been extended to August 08, 2025.
·
Similarly, the implementation date for phase-III, initially set for
September 01, 2025, has been extended to December 15, 2025.
·
SEBI has clarified that apart from
timelines, all other provisions of
Phase-I and Phase-II of nomination framework shall continue to remain
unchanged.
·
The
framework, originally introduced in January 2025, seeks to simplify
nomination process for mutual fund folios and demat accounts, further aims to enhance transparency and prevent
unclaimed assets.
·
As per SEBI’s February 2025 circular, some of the key changes
introduced were After the demise of
one or more joint account holders, the assets will be transferred to the surviving holder(s) without the need for additional
Know Your Customer (KYC) unless it was requested earlier and not provided.
·
Investors with single holdings now have the option to opt-out of nomination either online or offline mode.
2.
NPCI’S NEW UPI RULES
·
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) issued
new Unified Payments Interface (UPI) guidelines in
May 2025, which came into effect on August 1, 2025.
·
Balance Enquiry Limit: UPI users
can check their bank account balance
only up to 50 times per UPI application per day
through manual requests.
·
The
background or automated balance queries by applications are no
longer permitted.
·
List Account: UPI applications
can check and list the linked bank
accounts of the user for up to 25 times a day
per application per user, to protect user privacy and control the use of
backend resources.
·
Autopay: The guidelines have
mandated to schedule all autopay
executions during non-peak hours only to reduce congestion.
·
Penalties- The non-compliance of rules by an UPI
application or PSP will lead to the
restriction of their access to UPI APIs, pause onboarding new users and
imposing technical or regulatory penalties.
3.
RBI APPROVES MERGER OF NEW INDIA CO-OPERATIVE BANK
WITH SARASWAT BANK
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have
approved the merger of New India Co-operative Bank (NICBL)
with Saraswat Co-operative Bank.
·
After the merger, all branches of New India Co-operative Bank Ltd will function as
branches of Saraswat Co-operative Bank Ltd.
·
The RBI sanctioned the Scheme of
Amalgamation under Section 44A (4) of the Banking
Regulation Act, 1949, after the approval of the boards and
shareholders’ Special General Meeting of both banks.
4. BOOK “THE MAN WHO BECAME CINEMA:
DILIP KUMAR”
·
The book named “The
Man Who Became Cinema: Dilip Kumar”, written by Ashok
Chopra, was published by Ebury Press / Penguin Random
House India.
·
The book offers
a film‑by‑film analysis of Dilip Kumar’s
extraordinary acting method and highlights his contributions to Method
Acting in Indian cinema.
·
Dilip Kumar is also known as the “Tragedy
King” for his naturalistic and psychological realism in Hindi
films.
·
He was honoured with Padma
Bhushan (1991), DadasahebPhalke Award (1994), Padma
Vibhushan (2015), and Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Pakistan’s
highest civilian award) in 1998.

WORLD NATURE CONSERVATION DAY 2025 – JULY 28 2025
·
World Nature Conservation Day(WNCD) is
celebrated every year on July 28 to emphasize the importance of protecting the Earth’s
natural resources and preserving biodiversity for a sustainable future.
·
In June 1972, during
the United Nations(UN) Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm,
Sweden, the UN General Assembly(UNGA) officially designated July 28 as WNCD,
marking a pivotal moment in global environmental awareness and conservation
efforts.

INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY 2025 – JULY 29

International Tiger Day, also
known as Global Tiger Day, is observed annually on July 29 to
raise awareness about the critical need for tiger conservation worldwide.
·
International Tiger Day was established
in 2010 during the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit
held in Russia.
·
St. Petersburg Declaration At
the 2010 Tiger Summit, 13 Tiger Range
Countries (TRCs) adopted the St. Petersburg Declaration on Tiger
Conservation.
·
The 13 TRCs are Bangladesh, Bhutan,
Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia,
Myanmar, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FRIENDSHIP 2025 – JULY 30
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International
Day of Friendship or World Friendship Day is annually observed
across the globe on 30 July to honour the role of
friendship in fostering peace, solidarity, and reconciliation across cultures
and communities globally.
·
Idea of International Friendship Day was
supported by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO), which defined the Culture
of Peace as values, attitudes, and behaviours that reject
violence and aim to prevent conflicts by addressing root causes.

annually observed across the globe on August 1 to
