1. RBI IMPOSES RS 32 LAKH PENALTY ON INDIAN OVERSEAS
BANK
·
The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a penalty of Rs 31.8
lakh on Indian Overseas Bank (IoB), for its non-compliance with directions
on ‘Priority Sector Lending(PSL)-Targets
and classification’.
·
The
RBI found that IOB charged fees on certain PSL loans up to Rs. 25,000,
resulting in a monetary penalty.

RBI’S
4TH BI-MONTHLY MONETARY POLICY FY2025-26
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
conducted the 57th and 4th Bi-monthly
Monetary Policy Committee Meeting (MPC) of Financial Year (FY) 2025-26
from September 29 to October 1,2025 under the chairmanship of Shri
Sanjay Malhotra, Governor, RBI.
·
All the MPC members voted
unanimously to keep the policy repo rate
under the liquidity adjustment facility
(LAF) unchanged at 5.5%.
·
Consequently, the standing
deposit facility (SDF) rate shall remain unchanged at 5.25% and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the bank rate at 5.75%.
·
Reverse Repo Rate-3.35.
·
Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR)-3.00%.
·
Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR)-18.00%.
·
Bank Rate-5.75%.
·
The MPC also decided to continue with the neutral stance.

INTERNATIONAL DEAF
DAY- SEPTEMBER 28, 2025
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International
Day of Deaf is observed every year across the world
on last Sunday of September-this year, it is September
28.
·
WFD group was founded in 1951 to
promote equality and better living conditions for deaf communities all over the
world.
·
A global symbol of this
community is the Deaf Flag, a design by artist Arnaud Balard featuring a blue field for the community, yellow for life, and dark blue for the planet, which was
introduced by WFD.
·

WORLD RABIES DAY 2025
– SEPTEMBER 28
·
World Rabies Day is annually observed on September 28 worldwide.
·
The date also commemorates the anniversary of the death of Louis
Pasteur, the French scientist
who developed the first rabies vaccine.
·
This year’s theme is “Act
Now: You, Me, Communities “, which is a call for “you”, “me”, and the
“community” to take responsibilities, to work together, and drive real change.

WORLD HEART
DAY-SEPTEMBER 29,2025
·
September 29 is annually observed
as “World Heart Day” across the globe.
·
It aims at creating
awareness about Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) and
the measures to prevent them.
·
This year’s Theme is “Don’t Miss
A Beat”, emphasizing the importance of continuous vigilance in heart
health.
·
The idea of having heart day
globally was introduced by Antoni Baie de Luna, former
president of the World Health Federation (WHF), along
with the collaboration of World Health Organization (WHO),
in 1999.

WORLD RIVERS DAY 2025
– SEPTEMBER 28
·
World Rivers Day (WRD) is
annually observed across the world on the 4th Sunday
of September month, to raise public awareness about
the significance of rivers.
·
In 2005, Canadian river
conservationist Mark Angelo, Chair Emeritus of the
Rivers Institute at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), had
initiated the proposal at UN for the annual observance of WRD.

INTERNATIONAL
DAY OF OLDER PERSONS 2025 – OCTOBER 1

The
United Nations (UN’s) International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) is
annually observed across the globe on 1st October to honor
older persons and raise awareness about their rights and well-being.
·
2025
Theme: The theme of
IDOP 2025 is “Older Persons Driving
Local and Global Action: Our Aspirations, Our Well-Being, and Our Rights”.

WORLD
VEGETARIAN DAY 2025 – OCTOBER 1
·
North
American Vegetarian Society (NAVS), based in New York, the United States of
America (USA), established World Vegetarian Day in 1977.
·
Types
of Vegetarians: Lacto Vegetarians: Consume dairy, avoid eggs & meat.
·
Ovo-Lacto
Vegetarians: Eat dairy
& eggs, avoid meat.
·
Ovo
Vegetarians: Eat eggs,
avoid dairy & meat.
·
Vegans: Avoid all animal products (meat, dairy, eggs,
honey) and often other animal-derived goods.

COFFEE DAY 2025 – OCTOBER 1

2025
theme: “Embracing
Collaboration More Than Ever Coffee plant originated
in Ethiopia and spread to the Middle East before making its way to Europe
in the 15th century.
·
It
is the world’s second most traded
commodity after oil.
·
Countries
such as Brazil, Vietnam, Colombia,
Indonesia and Ethiopia are the top 5
producing countries.
·
Indian
States such as Karnataka, Kerala, and
Tamil Nadu (TN) are the top 3 coffee
producing states.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF
NON-VIOLENCE 2025 – OCTOBER 2
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International
Day of Non-Violence is observed annually across the world
on October 2, Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
·
Born on October
2, 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, studied law in London.
·
During the Dandi March (1930) and the Quit India Movement (1942), Mahatma
Gandhi demonstrated that moral force could mobilize millions without using
weapons.
·
Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated
on January 30, 1948 in New Delhi by Nathuram Godse during a
multi-faith prayer meeting at Birla House (Gandhi Smriti).
