MADAGASCAR’S
PM
·
Madagascar’s
President Andry Rajoelina appointed General Ruphin
Fortunat Zafisambo as Madagascar’s new Prime Minister (PM) following
the dismissal of the previous government amid rising protests over power
outages and water shortages.
2.
RBI
NEW ED
·
The
Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Sanjay Kumar Hansda as
new Executive Director (ED) of the central bank
·
The
RBI restructured the portfolios of its four deputy governors, effective
immediately, aiming to boost operational efficiency and streamline leadership
roles across the central bank.
·
Shirish
Chandra Murmu has
taken charge as Deputy Governor of the
RBI for a three-year term.
3. NAVI
MUMBAI AIRPORT RENAMED AFTER DB PATIL
·
Maharashtra Chief Minister
(CM) Devendra Fadnavis announced that the new Navi Mumbai
International Airport will be officially named Loknete Dinkar
Balu (DB) Patil Navi Mumbai International Airport.
·
Pune
Airport is proposed to be named after Jagadguru Sant Tukaram, and Aurangabad Airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
4. BRO
BUILDS WORLD’S HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD
·
The Border Roads
Organisation (BRO), under Project Himank, constructed
the world’s highest motorable road at Mig La
Pass near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at an altitude of 19,400 feet, surpassing its own previous Guinness World
Record at Umling La Pass (19,024 feet) in Ladakh, set in
2021.

It is Part of the Likaru–Mig La–Fukche road,
connecting the Hanle region to Fukche village near
the Indo-China border.
5.
NCRB RELEASES CRIME
IN INDIA REPORT 2023
·
National Crime Records
Bureau (NCRB), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), released a
report titled “Crime in India 2023”.
·
Kolkata (West
Bengal, WB) has been named India’s safest city in 2023 for the
fourth consecutive year, with a
crime rate of 83.9 cognizable offences per lakh population.
·
Kochi (Kerala)
has become the most unsafe city in India
with a crime rate of 3,192.4.
·
The
national average crime rate in India stood
at 433 cases per lakh population.
·
Hyderabad (Telangana), the second safest Indian city has been ranked
behind with a difference of 248.4 crimes.
·
Cities such as Pune (3rd)
and Mumbai(4th) have been ranked among the top 5 cities.
6.
MOE AND MOHFW LAUNCHED
‘TOBACCO-FREE YOUTH CAMPAIGN 3.0’
·
The
Ministry of Education (MoE),
in collaboration with the Ministry of
Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), launched the ‘Tobacco-Free Youth Campaign 3.0 (TFYC 3.0)’, a 60-day national initiative aimed at promoting
tobacco-free learning environments across schools, colleges, and vocational
training institutions in India.
·
Ensure
educational institutions follow Tobacco-Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI)
guidelines and maintain 100-yard
tobacco-free zones.
·
According
to the Global Youth Tobacco Survey
(GYTS-2019), 8.4% of Indian students
aged 13–15 years currently use tobacco, and the survey found that the average age of tobacco initiation among
these students is 10 years.

UK
PM KEIR STARMER’S VISIT TO INDIA
·
Keir
Starmer, Prime Minister of
the United Kingdom visited India at the invitation of PM of India Narendra
Modi, marking his first official
visit to India.
·
In Mumbai he addressed Indian business leaders to boost India-UK trade and investment ties.
·
He
attended the 6th edition of the Global
Fintech Fest (GFF), the world’s largest fintech festival, at Jio World
Centre in Mumbai.
·
During
the visit, India and the UK have launched India-UK Fintech
Corridor to boost financial and technological cooperation.
·
Key
Outcomes: During
the visit PM Keir Starmer announced the establishment of campuses of nine
UK universities in India, following the approval of University Grants
Commission (UGC) under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).
·
Launched
India-UK Connectivity and Innovation
Centre and India-UK Joint Centre for AI.
·
Technology
Startup Fund was launched under a UK-India MoU with the
State Bank of India(SBI), supports entrepreneurs in sectors such as
climate technology and AI.
·
A
Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between India’s Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and
the UK’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) to
strengthen health research initiative.
·
India
signed a 350 million Euro (USD 468 million) defence agreement
with UK for the supply of Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMMs), also
known as Martlet missiles, to the Indian Army (IA).

42ND ICAO ASSEMBLY
SESSION
·
The 42nd Session
of the International Civil Aviation
Organization (ICAO) Assembly was held in Montréal,
Canada, with 192 Member States
participating to establish priorities for global civil aviation.
·
At the 42nd ICAO Assembly, the 36-member
Council, elected for a three-year term.
·
It consists of 3 parts.
·
Part I: Australia,
Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom (UK),
and the United States of America (USA) were elected to Part I.
·
Part II: Argentina,
Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, India, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi
Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, and Switzerland were elected to Part
II.
·
Part III: Angola,
Belize, Cuba, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Malaysia, Mali, Morocco, Poland,
Qatar, Republic of Korea, Uganda, the United Arab Emirates, and Uruguay were
elected to Part III.
·
The African Civil Aviation Commission (ACFAC) and its
partner organization, the African Civil Aviation and Flight Safety
Foundation (ACVFFI) received the Edward Warner Award
2025.

WORLD
SOCIAL SECURITY FORUM (WSSF) 2025
·
The World Social Security
Forum (WSSF) 2025, organized by the International Social Security
Association (ISSA), was held at the Kuala Lumpur (KL) Malaysia.
·
The WSSF 2025 was held
under the theme titled “Shaping
Social Security for a World in Transition”.
·
India received
the ‘ISSA Award 2025 for Outstanding
Achievement in Social Security’ in
recognition of its transformative efforts in social security coverage.
·
ISSA Leadership Elections
2025: Dr. Mohammed Azman, was
re-elected President.
10. ILO’S STATE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE REPORT 2025
·
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) released
its latest report titled ‘The State of Social Justice 2025: A work
in progress’, highlighted
that the world is wealthier, healthier
and better educated than in 1995, progress
remains uneven, with inequality reduction stalling and benefits not equally
shared.
·
The report was released ahead of the 2nd World Summit for Social Development (WSSD)
scheduled to be held in Doha, Qatar
in November 2025.
·
The report showed that Child labour among those aged between
5-14 years, has decreased from 250 million (1995) to 106 million
(2024).
·
Also, the rate of child labour
has declined from 20.6% (in 1995) to 7.8%
(in 2024).
·
The report showed that extreme poverty rate decreased
from 4 in 10 people (in 1995) to 1 in 10 (in 2023).
·
It further showed that working
poverty declined significantly to 6.9% (in 2024) compared
to 27.9% (in 2000).
·
Since 2000, school completion rates in primary and secondary schools increased by 10% and 22%, respectively.
·
The report showed that despite decrease in poverty rates, 800
million people still live on less than USD 3 per
day.
·
As per the report, 1
in 4 people still lacks
access to safely managed drinking water.
·
The report highlighted that top1% of the world’s population holds 20% of income and 38% of wealth.
11.
WHO
REPORT ON TOBACCO USE REDUCTION
·
The
World Health Organisation (WHO) released the 6th edition of ‘WHO
Global Report on Trends in Prevalence of Tobacco Use 2000-2024 and Projections
2025-30’.
·
As
per the report, 3 South-East
(SE) Asian countries namely, Bangladesh, India and Nepal are
on track to achieve at least 30% relative reduction in tobacco
use by the end of 2025.
·
While,
6 other SE Asian countries: Bhutan, Democratic People’s Republic (DPR)
of Korea, Maldives, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand, are projected to witness smaller declines in tobacco
use.
·
The
WHO report shows global tobacco users
declined from 1.38 billion in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024, and
is projected to drop by 120 million more
by 2025, a 27% relative reduction.
·
As
per the report, over 100 million people worldwide now use e-cigarettes, of which nearly
86 million are adults, who live in High Income Countries (HICs).
·
The
report also highlighted that prevalence
of e-cigarettes or vape is also common among teenagers, at least
15 million teenagers aged between
13 and 15 years, are already using e-cigarettes.
·
The
report further projected that children are on
average 9 times more likely than adults to vape.
·
Women reached the 30% global reduction target by 2020, five years ahead of schedule, with tobacco
use falling from 11% (2010) to 6.6% (2024) and female users dropping from 277 million to 206 million.
·
In
contrast, men who make up over 80% of global
tobacco users are not expected to meet the target until 2031, with around 1 billion male users still consuming
tobacco.

CHINA
COMMENCES WORLD’S 1ST SOLAR-THERMAL POWER PLANT
·
China inaugurated the world’s first solar
thermal power station, developed by China Three Gorges
Corporation, in the Gobi Desert,
located in Gansu Province(China).
·
Around
27,000 mirrors focus sunlight onto
two 200-meter(m)-high towers spaced
about one kilometre(km) apart.
·
The
700-megawatt(MW) Noor Energy 1 project
in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) currently stands as the world’s largest operational solar thermal
complex.
13.
GSL’S FPV
‘ICGS AKSHAR’ OFFICIALLY COMMISSIONED
·
The
Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Akshar, 2nd
of 8th Adamya–class Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), was officially
commissioned in the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) at Karaikal in
the Union Territory (UT) of
Puducherry.
·
The newly commissioned ship
was designed and developed indigenously by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).
·
The ship weighs nearly
320 tonnes, is powered by two 3,000 KiloWatt (KW) diesel
engines which enable a maximum.
14.
NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSIOLOGY
OR MEDICINE 2025
·
Shimon Sakaguchi, a
Japanese Immunologist, Mary
E. Brunkow, an American
molecular biologist and immunologist, Fred Ramsdell, an American immunologist, are declared as
the winners of Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2025 by
the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet
in Stockholm, Sweden.
·
They are recognized for
their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance that prevents
the immune system from harming the body.
·
Nobel Prizes will be
presented annually to laureates on 10th
December, commemorating the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.
15. AWARD
FOR DEDICATED SERVICE BY UNISFA
·
Indian
Peacemakers in Abyei, Sudan were honored for their
dedication towards the service by Mission
of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), a
contested, oil-rich Border region between Sudan
and South Sudan.
·
India
remains as the largest contributor to UN
peacekeeping efforts globally, with over 5,000 troops currently serving.
·
Speed of 27 knots,
with an endurance speed of 1,500 nautical miles.
