THREE MAJOR PORTS RECOGNISED AS GREEN HYDROGEN HUBS
·
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) officially
recognised three major ports, Deendayal Port Authority (Gujarat), V.O. Chidambaranar Port
Authority (Tamil Nadu, TN), and Paradip Port
Authority (Odisha) as Green Hydrogen Hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM).
·
Projects in these zones eligible for benefits under Central and State Government schemes, facilitating
access to infrastructure, approvals, and financial incentives.
·
National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) Launched
by Government
of India (GoI) in 2023 with an outlay of Rs. 19,744 crore.
2.
PM OF FRANCE
·
French President Emmanuel Macron has
reappointed Sebastien Lecornu as the new Prime Minister of
France.
·
Earlier, he was appointed as the PM of France on September
9, 2025, succeeding François Bayrou, who resigned after failing a
confidence vote in the National Assembly.
·
Appointed as PM of France in September 2025, he became
the youngest PM at 39, but his government collapsed within 14
hours following opposition backlash over limited political diversity in his
cabinet.

Rajeev Juneja, Vice Chairman & Managing
Director (MD) of Mankind Pharma Limited., assumed charge as the President of
PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry
(PHDCCI) for the period 2025–26.

It is a National Apex
Chamber with an international office in Bahrain, serving six Gulf Cooperation
Council (GCC) countries.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD 2025– OCTOBER 11
·
The United Nations (UN’s) International Day of the
Girl Child (IDGC) is annually observed globally on October
11 to highlight the challenges girls face and promote their
empowerment and human rights.
·
2025 Theme: “ The girl I am, the change I lead: Girls on the frontlines of
crisis”.
·
Marking 30 years since the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), the IDGC urges the world
to listen to girls, recognize their potential, and advance gender equality.
·
With five years left until 2030, no country has achieved even half of the 16 Sustainable Development
Goals(SDGs) targets critical to adolescent girls’ well-being.

‘PMDDKY’ AND ‘MISSION FOR
AATMANIRBHARTA IN PULSES’
·
PM Modi launched two major
schemes ‘PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana
(PMDDKY)’ and ‘Mission for
Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.’ in the agriculture sector under the special
Krishi programme, with an outlay
of Rs 35,440 cr.
·
PM DDKY: The
scheme is designed to catalyse growth in 100 agri-districts through saturation-based
convergence of 36 Central schemes across 11 Ministries, with
an annual outlay of Rs. 24,000 cr for a period of six years starting
Financial Year 2025–26 (FY26).
·
Mission
for Atmanirbharta in Pulses: Dalhan
Atmanirbharta Mission was also launched with a total outlay of Rs 11,440
crore and will be implemented from 2025–26 to 2030–31.
·
The mission aims to achieve self-sufficiency in pulses by
significantly enhancing domestic production, reducing import dependence,
and sustainably improving farmers’ incomes.

2025 SVERIGES RIKSBANK PRIZE
IN ECONOMIC SCIENCES
·
The Royal Swedish Academy
of Sciences awarded the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in
Economic Sciences in the Memory of Alfred Nobel 2025, also known as the Nobel Prize in Economics, to American-Israeli economic historian Joel
Mokyr, French economist Philippe Aghion, and Canadian
economist Peter Howitt for “explaining innovation-driven economic growth.”
·
The Nobel Prize will be presented on 10 December 2025 in
Stockholm, Sweden, commemorating the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel.
·
Joel Mokyr From
(Northwestern University, USA), he was awarded half of the Nobel
Prize for identifying the prerequisites for sustained economic growth
through technological progress.
·
Philippe
Aghion jointly received half of the Nobel Prize with
Peter Howitt for the theory of sustained growth through
creative destruction.
·
Sveriges Riksbank Prize in
Economic Sciences has been awarded 57
times to 99 laureates between 1969 and 2025. The 99 individual laureates include 3 women.

INTERNATIONAL BLUE FLAG
CERTIFICATION
·
5 beaches of Maharashtra received the
international Blue Flag certification.
·
The names of beaches are: Shrivardhan and Nagaon beaches (Raigad
district); Parnaka (Palghar
district); and Guhagar and Ladghar
beaches (Ratnagiri district).
·
With this addition, India now has a total of 18 Blue
Flag-certified beaches.
·
In 1985, it was initially launched by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) France as
a project to raise awareness about marine pollution and later in 1987, FEE in collaboration with the
European Union (EU) awarded the 1st
Blue Flag sites across 10 European nations.
·
Blue Flag
is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary awards, given
across 3 main categories: beaches,
marinas, and sustainable tourism operators.
·
The certification is awarded by the FEE in Denmark.
·
As of May 2025, a total of 5,195 sites across 51 countries,
have been awarded with the Blue Flag
certificates.
·
FEE is one of the world’s largest environmental
education organisations, with more than 110 member organisations in 85
countries.
·

ASIA’S SAFEST BANK AWARD
·
Global Finance released
a report titled “World’s Safest Banks in Asia 2025”.
·
As per the report, DBS Bank, Singapore, has been
named Asia’s safest bank for the 17th consecutive year from 2009 to 2025.
·
It also maintained its position
as the second safest commercial bank
globally in the “World’s 50 Safest Commercial Banks” rankings.
·
DBS Bank has been followed by the
Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation
(OCBC), Singapore (2nd) and
United Overseas Bank (UOB), Singapore (3rd).
·
In the global rankings, KfW
Bank of Germany secured the top
position, followed by Zurcher Kantonal
bank of Switzerland and BNG Bank of
the Netherlands.

RBI APPOINTS SONALI SEN GUPTA AS
NEW ED
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed Sonali
Sen Gupta as the Executive
Director (ED).
·
She will oversee the Department of Consumer Education and Protection
(DoCE&P) , Department of Financial Inclusion and Development
(DoFI&D) and Department of Inspections (DoI).
·
Her appointment follows the
elevation of Shirish Chandra Murmu as Deputy Governor of RBI.
11.
IMF FIRST DEPUTY MANAGING
DIRECTOR
·
The Executive Board of the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the appointment of Dan
Katz (American economist) as the First
Deputy Managing Director (FDMD) of
the IMF.
·
He succeeds Gita Gopinath,
who stepped down in August 2025.
·
As the First Deputy Managing
Director, Katz will assist in overseeing
the IMF’s policy direction, global surveillance, and lending operations.
12. 11TH
ASIAN AQUATICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
·
The 11th edition
of the Asian Aquatics Championships held in Ahmedabad,
Gujarat.
·
This was the first time India hosted the event and only the second time it took place in South Asia.
·
China dominated
the medal tally with 54 medals, followed by Kazakhstan (23 medals) and Japan (21 medals).
·
India win
13 medals.
·
Srihari Nataraj Secured
7 medals, the highest haul by any Indian athlete in a single Asian Aquatics
Championships.
13. INTERNATIONAL
DAY FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION 2025 – OCTOBER 13
·
The United Nations (UN) observes
the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) every
year on 13 October to raise global awareness and encourage
action for reducing disaster risks.
·
2025 Theme: “Fund
Resilience, Not Disasters”.
·
The day also reinforces the
world’s dedication to implementing the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk
Reduction (2015–2030) which was adopted at the 3rd UN’s World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai (Japan)
in 2015.

14. REPORT ON
INDIA’S BLUE ECONOMY
·
The NITI (National
Institution for Transforming India) released a report on “India’s Blue
Economy: Strategy for Harnessing Deep-Sea and Offshore Fisheries” emphasising
on the need of capacity building and research in this field.
·
India is the second-largest fish-producing country in the world, accounting for
8% of global production.
·
India’s
export earnings from fish and fishery products
doubled to Rs. 60,523 crore (cr) in Financial Year 2023-24
(FY24) from Rs. 30,213 cr in 2013-14.
