1. MOHFW ACHIEVED 3 GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
·
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has
achieved 3 Guinness World Record titles under the ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA)’, a
health and empowerment campaign for
women and children in India.
·
Maximum Registration: The campaign has set the record of the highest number of people to register for a healthcare platform in a
single month i.e. to over 3.21 crore.
·
Maximum screening for breast cancer: More than 9.94 lakh people
had signed up for breast cancer screening online in one week.
·
Maximum screening for vital signs: Over 1.25 lakh people had signed up for vital signs
screening online in one week (at state level).
·
SNSPA: PM Narendra Modi launched this nationwide
campaign, which was concluded on October 02, 2025.
·
This initiative was jointly led by MoHFW
in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD).
2. LUCKNOW DESIGNATED AS UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF
GASTRONOMY
·
UNESCO
designated Lucknow (UP), the city of nawabs, as a ‘Creative City of Gastronomy’ under
the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
·
The announcement was made during the ‘43rd session of UNESCO’s General
Conference’ held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, placing Lucknow among 70 global gastronomy hubs.
·
With this recognition, Lucknow became the second Indian city after Hyderabad (Telangana)
to receive this title under the UCCN.
·
UCCN: It was established in 2004 to promote cooperation among cities that
recognize creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development.
·
In 2025, for the first time, the UCCN expanded its scope by introducing ‘Architecture’ as
a new creative field, joining its seven existing fields Crafts and Folk
Arts, Design, Film, Gastronomy, Literature, Media Arts, and Music.
·
In 2025, UNESCO designated 58 cities as new members of the UCCN,
bringing its total membership to 408 cities from over 100
countries.
3. INDIA’S 94TH RAMSAR SITE
·
Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, Ministry of
Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) announced that Gogabeel Lake in
Katihar district of Bihar has
been officially designated as Ramsar Convention Sites of International
Importance
·
With this addition, Bihar now has six Ramsar Sites,
ranking third in India after Tamil Nadu (20 sites) and Uttar
Pradesh (10 sites).
·
India now hosts 94 Ramsar sites, covering a total area of 13,60,805
hectares.
·
India holds the highest number of Ramsar
Sites in South Asia and ranks first in Asia, while globally, it stands third, after the United Kingdom (176 sites) and Mexico (144 sites).
·
In 1981, Chilka Lake (Odisha)
and Keoladeo National Park (NP)
(Rajasthan) were recognised as the1st
Ramsar sites in India.
·
Before Gogabeel Lake, Gokul Jalashay
(448 ha) in Buxar district and Udaipur
Jheel (319 ha) in West Champaran district were designated as India’s 92nd and 93rd Ramsar Sites,
respectively.
·
The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands was adopted in 1971 and came into
force in 1975.

4. FRANCE’S CHEVALIER
DE L’ORDRE NATIONAL DU MÉRITE AWARD
·
Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman of Hero Enterprise and Founder
of the Serendipity Arts Foundation, was conferred the Chevalier
de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the National
Order of Merit), one of France’s highest
civilian honours, by the Ambassador of French to India H.E. Thierry Mathou,
in New Delhi.
·
The award recognises his
contributions to education, culture, and innovation, and his efforts in strengthening
cultural and institutional ties between France and India through arts and
philanthropy.
·
Knight of the National Order of
Merit was instituted in 1963 by General Charles de Gaulle.
·
The honour is conferred upon individuals
who have rendered distinguished services in public, civil, military, or
private fields.
·
The Ordre national du Mérite consists
of five classes including three ranks Chevalier
(Knight), Officier (Officer),
Commandeur (Commander), and two
higher dignities Grand
Officier (Grand Officer), and Grand-Croix
(Grand Cross).

QS WORLD UNIVERSITY
RANKINGS ASIA 2026
·
The United Kingdom(UK) based global higher education analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) released
the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2026.
·
As per the latest rankings Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi has
slipped to 59th rank and ranked first among the Indian universities with the overall score
of 78.6 in 2026, compared to 44th position in
2025 and 46th in 2024.
·
The University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong, Special
Administrative Region, SAR) topped the
list with the overall score of 100, followed by Peking University (China) (99.9) at the
second place, while Nanyang Technological University (NTU) (Singapore) and
National University of Singapore(NUS) shared the third place with a score of
99.
·
The QS World University Rankings Asia 2026, marks the 17th edition,
featuring 1,529 universities from 25
locations.
·
China has the highest representation with 395 ranked universities. It has 3
universities in the top 10.
·
India has 294 universities in the QS World University Rankings Asia 2026,
including 7 Indian institutions in the
top 100 such as IIT-Delhi, IISc Bangalore, IIT-Madras, IIT-Bombay,
IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur (West Bengal, WB) (77th) (73.4), University of Delhi
(Delhi) (95th) (68.5).
·
Chandigarh University(Punjab), the only Indian institution in the top 10 to improve its rank, moved up to
109 in 2026 from 120 last years.
6. 2025 WORLD LEADER FOR PEACE AND SECURITY AWARD
·
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi
Shankar, founder of the Art of Living Foundation, has been honored with the 2025
World Leader for Peace and Security Award by the Boston Global Forum (BGF) and the AI World
Society (AIWS), at Harvard University in in Cambridge, USA.
·
Previous Recipients: Shinzō Abe, Former Prime Minister(PM)
of Japan; Angela Merkel, Former Chancellor of Germany; Ban Ki-moon, Former
Secretary-General of United Nations(UN) ; Sauli Niinistö, former President
of Finland; Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine ; and Emmanuel Macron,

SWACH SURVEKSHAN 2024-25

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) released Swachh Survekshan (SS) 2025 rankings.
·
As per the 2025 ranking, Madurai
(Tamil Nadu, TN) with a score of 4,823 out
of 12,500, has been ranked the dirtiest among Indian cities with a population above 10 lakhs.
·
SS 2024-24, established in 2016 under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban
(SBM-U), marks the 9th edition.
·
Ludhiana is
second dietiest city.
·
Cities are evaluated based on: Solid waste management efficiency, Citizen
feedback and participation,Innovation and best practices,Sanitation and hygiene
levels.

MANOHAR
PARRIKAR YUVA SCIENTIST AWARD 2025
·
Dr Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan, Associate Professor of Materials
Engineering at the Indian Institute of
Science (IISc), Bengaluru, Karnataka, was conferred the 3rd Edition
of Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award.
·
He was recognized for his outstanding contributions to computational
materials science, pioneering materials modeling and analysis of
complex alloys with significant potential for advancing sustainable
technologies and industrial innovation.
·
The award was instituted in 2022 by the
Government of Goa through its Department of Science,
Technology and Waste Management.
·
Cash Prize: Rs 5 Lakh
is the highest among Indian science and technology
awards.
9. PEOPLE FIRST INTEGRATION AWARD
·
The Government of Himachal
Pradesh (HP) has been honored with the prestigious “People First
Integration Award” by the Ministry
of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY),
Government of India(GoI).
·
This recognition was conferred at the
National Workshop and Conference on DigiLocker 2025 held in New Delhi for
its exemplary work in integrating
citizen-centric digital services on the DigiLocker platform.
·
HP’s Department of Digital Technologies and
Governance (DDT&G) received this award in recognition of its efforts of
successfully integrating of 51 HIMSeva (e-district) services, along
with Him Parivar and Him Access Card services, on the Digi Locker platform.
10. UNEP’s AGR REPORT 2025
·
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) released
its latest report titled ‘Adaptation Gap
Report (AGR) 2025: Running on Empty’.
·
The report estimates that developing nations will need USD
310–365 billion annually by
2035 for climate adaptation, about 12 times higher than the current global
public adaptation finance of USD 26 billion (2023).
·
The report was released ahead of the Conference of Parties (COP30) of
the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) which is scheduled to be held in Belem,
Brazil.
·
The report cautions that if current
adaptation finance trends persist, the Glasgow
Climate Pact goal of doubling 2019 adaptation finance to about USD 40 billion by 2025 is unlikely to be
achieved.
·
The report reviewed the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) set at COP29
in Baku, Azerbaijan, which targets
USD 300 billion annually by 2035 for climate action in developing nations.
·
The report highlights that 172 countries currently have at least one national adaptation policy,
plan, or strategy, but 36 of these are
outdated, having not been updated in over a decade.
·
The report has projected
that private sector investment in
national adaptation priorities are expected to increase from the current USD
5 billion to USD 50 billion per year with
supportive policy and blended finance mechanisms.

ITS WEALTH BY 62% SINCE 2000: G20 REPORT
·
The Group of 20(G20)
Extraordinary Committee of Independent Experts on Global Inequality under South Africa’s Presidency, published
the first-ever report on inequality,
titled “G20
Extraordinary Committee of Independent Experts on Global Inequality”.
·
This report revealed that between 2000 and 2023, India’s
wealthiest 1% experienced a 62% increase in
their wealth.
·
The report, compiled by the G20
Extraordinary Committee of Independent Experts on Global Inequality led
by Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, examines
patterns of income and wealth disparities worldwide.
·
Nationally, 83% of countries have high
income inequality (i.e., a Gini coefficient above 0.4), accounting for 90%
of the world’s population.
·
Between 2000 and 2024, the richest 1% captured 41% of all new wealth, in contrast to just 1%
being captured by the bottom 50%.
·
Between 2000 and 2023, the richest
1% increased their share of the wealth in over half of all countries, which
contain 74% of the global.
·
2.3 billion (bn) people face moderate or severe food insecurity, up by 335 million (mn)
since 2019.

·
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk
Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), marketed under the Amul
brand, has been ranked as the world’s No. 1 cooperative based on GDP per capita
performance in the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) World
Cooperative Monitor 2025.
·
This prestigious ranking was announced during the ICA
Cooperative Milestones 50 (CM50) Conference held in Doha, Qatar
·
The World Cooperative Monitor is prepared by
the ICA with technical and research support from the European Research
Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (EURICSE).
·
WCM provides two main ways to rank the Top

13.
UNEP’s EGR 2025
·
The United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP) released the 16th edition
of a report titled ‘The Emissions Gap Report(EGR) 2025: Off
Target-Continued Collective Inaction Puts Global Temperature Goal at Risk’.
·
As per the report, the global emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) reached a record high of 57.7 Gigatonnes
of Carbon Dioxide equivalent (GtCO2e) in 2024,
marking an increase of 2.3% compared
to 2023 emissions.
·
The report also showed that India (+0.165GtCO2e) recorded
the largest year-on-year (Y-o-Y)
increase in emissions, followed by
China, Russia, Indonesia and the USA.
·
The report highlighted that even
if countries fully implement their updated Nationally Determined Contributions
(NDCs), average global temperatures are expected to increase by 2.3°C to
2.5°C above pre-industrial levels by the end of the century.
·
This projection marks a modest
increase compared to last year’s 2.6°C to 2.8°C.
·
China, the USA, India, the European Union (EU),
Russia and Indonesia continue to be
the largest global emitters, of these, the EU was the only one to decrease emissions
in 2024.
·
The report further showed countries
which recorded the fastest growth rate in emissions: Indonesia (4.6%); India (3.6%) and China (0.5%).
·
As per the report, per capita GHG
emissions in countries like: the USA,
Russia, China and the EU continue to be higher than the global average of 6.4 tonnes
CO2e.
·
Per capita GHG emissions in India
and Indonesia remain below the
global average.
·
The report recommended that in order
to align with 2°C and 1.5°C targets,
countries are required to reduce annual emissions by 35% and 55% by
2035, compared
with 2019 levels, respectively.
14. ISRO LAUNCHED INDIA’S HEAVIEST MILITARY
COMMUNICATION SATELLITE ‘CMS-03’
·
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has
successfully launched India’s
heaviest military communication satellite named ‘CMS-03’ or
also known as GSAT-7R, which weighs 4,410 kilogram
(kg), aboard its indigenously made ‘Launch Vehicle Mark-3
(LVM3-M5)’ rocket, also dubbed as
‘Bahubali’ from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre
(SDSC)in Sriharikota, Andhra
Pradesh (AP).
·
LVM3-M5 rocket,
previously known as Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV Mk-III),
has successfully deployed the country’s heaviest communication satellite into
the designated Geosynchronous Transfer
Orbit (GTO).
·
This marked the 5th operational flight of LVM3 launcher, previously used for ‘Chandrayaan-3 mission’, where in, India
became the world’s 1st country to land successfully near the lunar South Pole.
·
CMS-03 or GSAT-7R is a multi-band communication
satellite that will enhance communication services across the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) for the Indian
Navy (IN).
·
GSAT-7 will replace GSAT-7 (Rukmini), which was launched in 2013 on Ariane-5
rocket.

15. OPENAI LAUNCHES AI BENCHMARK ‘INDQA’
·
OpenAI, an Artificial Intelligence company,
launched “IndQA(Indian
Question Answering)”, an AI benchmark to evaluate how
effectively AI models understand and
reason about Indian culture and daily life in Indian languages.
·
IndQA covers 12 languages, including
Bengali, Hindi, Hinglish (a mix of hindi and English), Kannada, Marathi, Odia,
Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Punjab, Tamil, and English in the dataset.
·
Ten cultural domains such as Architecture and Design, Arts & Culture, Everyday Life,
Food & Cuisine, History, Law & Ethics, Literature & Linguistics,

16. C-UAS DRONE SYSTEM
·
AXISCADES Technologies Limited, an Indian defence technology solutions
provider, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with
France-based Cilas S.A., a pioneer in laser technologies, to
jointly develop and promote advanced Counter-Unmanned
Aerial System (C-UAS) drone system for the Indian Armed Forces.
·
The partnership aims to integrate
Cilas’ Helma-P laser system into vehicle-mounted defense platforms to boost
India’s counter-drone capabilities.
·
Under the agreement, AXISCADES will design the overall system
architecture customized to meet the specific requirements of the Indian
Army(IA).
17. PRO KABADDI LEAGUE SEASON 12
·
Dabang Delhi Kabaddi Club (K.C.) clinched their second Pro
Kabaddi League (PKL) title after defeating Puneri Paltan in
the Season 12 Final held in New Delhi.
·
Dabang Delhi became the first home team since U Mumba (Season 2, 2015) to lift the
PKL trophy in front of their home crowd.

18. ROHAN BOPANNA’ RETIRED FROM TENNIS
·
Indian tennis player Rohan Machanda Bopanna,
a two-time Grand Slam champion and three-time Olympian, officially announced his retirement from
professional tennis.
·
He was honoured with the Padma Shri (2024), Arjuna Award
(2019), and Ekalavya Award (2005).
·
He won two Grand Slam titles - the 2017
French Open (Mixed Doubles with Gabriela Dabrowski) in Paris, France and the 2024
Australian Open (Men’s Doubles with Matthew Ebden), Australia.

He is among the select four Indian
