1.       LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX 2025

·         Dutch-Belgian race car driver Max Verstappen, representing Red Bull Racing, won the Las Vegas Grand Prix (GP) 2025 or Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas GP 2025 held in Las Vegas, USA. 

·         This was his 125th podium in 231 career races.

·         George Russell finished second, and Kimi Antonelli  third.

 


2.       WOMEN’S KABADDI WORLD CUP 2025

·         The Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team clinched the 2nd edition of Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title by defeating Chinese Taipei 35–28 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

·         India secured its second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title in 2025, having originally won the inaugural championship held in Patna, Bihar, in 2012.

·         Eleven countries competed in the Tournament-India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Iran, Kenya, Nepal, Poland, Thailand, Uganda, and Zanzibar.

·         India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all group matches and defeating Iran 33–21 in the semi-final to reach the final.

·         Sanju Devi (India) was named Most Valuable Player.

·         I Min Lin (Chinese Taipei) received the best raider award.

·         M Srity Akter (Bangladesh) was recognized as the best defender.

 

3.       AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2025 BADMINTON

·         The Australian Open (AO) 2025 Badminton, officially titled the Sathio Group Australian Open 2025, is a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 500 tournament, held in Sydney, Australia.

·         Indian badminton player Lakshya Sen (world Rank 11) clinched the men’s singles title at the Australian Open 2025 by defeating Japan’s Yushi Tanaka 21-15, 21-11.

·         Women’s Singles Won byAn Se Young (Korea) Beating PutriKusumaWardani (Indonesia).

·         Badminton World Federation (BWF) Headquarters – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

4.       DAVIS CUP 2025

·         Italy’s men’s tennis team won its fourth Davis Cup 2025 title after defeatinSpain 2-0 in the Davis Cup 2025 Final held in Bologna, Italy, becoming the second nation after USA to claim three consecutive titles in the premier men’s international team tennis event, with previous victories in 1976, 2023, and 2024.

·         The Davis Cup is organized and overseen by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

·         In First Singles Matteo Berrettini (Italy) defeated Pablo Carreno Busta (Spain) 6-3, 6-4, giving Italy a 1-0 lead.

·         In Second Singles Flavio Cobolli (Italy) defeated Jaume Munar (Spain).

·         Italy remains at the top of the Davis Cup Nations Rankings 2025, with Germany and Spain occupying second and third places, respectively.

 

5.       25TH SUMMER DEAFLYMPICS 2025

·         The 25th edition of the 2025 Summer Deaflympics or XXV Summer Deaflympics, held in Tokyo, Japan.

·         Ukraine dominated the event by topping both the gold and overall medal tallies with 32 gold, 39 silver, and 29 bronze (100 total medals), United States of America (USA) with 36 medals (gold, silver, and bronze) and Japan with 51 medals (gold, silver, and bronze).

·         India achieved its highest-ever Summer Deaflympics finish by placing 6th with a total of 20 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze.

·         Indian shooters secured 16 of the country’s 20 total medals.

·         Mahit Sandhu became India’s most successful athlete with 4 medals (2 gold, 2 silver).

·         India secured its first-ever medals in Wrestling and Karate.

·         The games have been organized since 1924 by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) also known as Comité International des Sports des Sourds (CISS).

·         The 2025 edition celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Deaflympics, first held in 1924 in Paris, France.

·         The games featured 21 sports, including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Bowling, Cycling Road, Mountain Bike, Football, Golf, Handball, Judo, Karate, Orienteering, Shooting, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Wrestling Freestyle, and Wrestling Greco-Roman.

·         2025 Medal Design Theme: The medal, themed “Spreading Our Wings,” features an origami paper crane symbolizing aspiration and excellence, along with traditional Japanese auspicious patterns.

6.       2030 COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN AHMEDABAD

·         The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) General Assembly approved a proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, defeating Abuja (Nigeria) in the bid in Glasgow, Scotland.

·         This marks the second time, earlier, India hosted the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

·         The 2030 edition marks the 100th year of the Commonwealth games, first held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.

·         These games will feature an expanded lineup of 15–17 sports, compared to the 10-sport format of Glasgow, Scotland 2026 common wealth games.

·         Commonwealth Gamest is an international multi-sport event involving athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations, a group of 56 countries, which were formerly part of the British Empire.

·         The games are held once every four years.

 

7.       11TH FIDE CHESS WORLD CUP 2025

·         The 11th edition of FIDE Chess World Cup 2025 was held in Goa.

·         The tournament marks India hosting the event again after 23 years.

·         19-year-old Uzbekistan Grandmaster (GM) Javokhir Sindarov became the youngest ever FIDE World Cupchampion in 2025, defeating China’s Wei Yi in a rapid tiebreak after two drawn classical games.

·         The event featured 206 participants from 82 countries.

·         The tournament followed an eight-round single-elimination knockout format.

·         The FIDE Chess World Cup 2025 trophy was officially renamed the Viswanathan Anand Cup in honour of India’s five-time World Chess Champion.

·         The FIDE World Cup 2025 offered a USD 2 million prize fund, with USD 120,000 awarded for first place

8.       INDIA-NEPAL MILITARY EXERCISE ‘SURYA KIRAN XIX’

·         The Indian Army (IA) and Nepal Army (NA) commenced the 19th edition of the India-Nepal joint military exercise ‘Surya Kiran 2025’ in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand.

·         The exercise is an annual military exercise conducted between India and Nepal, held alternately in the two countries.

·         The 18th edition of the Indo-Nepal joint military exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ took place in January 2025 at Saljhandi, Nepal.

 

9.       S&P Global Ratings Retains India’s GDP at 6.5% for FY26 

·         The Global ratings agency S&P Global Ratings released its report “Economic Outlook Asia-Pacific Q1 2026: Signs of relief”, retaining India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) forecast at 6.5% for Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26).

·         S&P further projects India’s GDP growth to reach 6.7% in FY27.

·         Asia-Pacific Economic Outlook: Lower trade tariff uncertainties, robust tech exports, and steady demand in the region have prompted S&P to raise the 2026 GDP forecast from 4.0% in FY25 to 4.2% in FY26.

·         The S&P Global Ratings has revised the inflation forecast to 2.5% from 3.2% for FY 26.

·         However, the food inflation is expected to normalize in the future and the inflation for FY27 is expected to be around 5%.
