2. WOMEN’S KABADDI WORLD CUP
2025

The Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team clinched
the 2nd edition of Women’s Kabaddi
World Cup title by defeating Chinese Taipei 35–28
in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

India secured its second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi
World Cup title in 2025, having originally won the inaugural championship held in Patna, Bihar, in 2012.

Eleven countries competed
in the Tournament-India, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Iran, Kenya,
Nepal, Poland, Thailand, Uganda, and Zanzibar.

India remained unbeaten
throughout the tournament, winning all group matches and defeating Iran 33–21 in the
semi-final to reach the final.

Italy’s men’s tennis team won
its fourth Davis Cup 2025 title after defeating Spain 2-0

premier men’s international team tennis event, with previous victories in 1976,
2023, and 2024.

The 25th edition
of the 2025 Summer Deaflympics or XXV Summer Deaflympics, held
in Tokyo, Japan.

Ukraine dominated
the event by topping both the gold and overall medal tallies with 32 gold, 39 silver, and 29 bronze (100
total medals), United States of America (USA) with 36 medals (gold,
silver, and bronze) and Japan with 51 medals (gold, silver, and bronze).

India achieved
its highest-ever Summer Deaflympics finish by
placing 6th with a total of 20 medals, including 9 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze.

Indian
shooters secured 16
of the country’s 20 total medals.

Mahit
Sandhu became India’s most successful athlete with 4 medals (2 gold, 2 silver).

India secured its first-ever medals in Wrestling and Karate.

2030 COMMONWEALTH GAMES IN AHMEDABAD

The Commonwealth Games
Federation (CGF) General Assembly approved a proposal to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games
in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, defeating Abuja (Nigeria)
in the bid in Glasgow, Scotland.
·
This marks the second
time, earlier, India hosted the 2010
Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
·
The 2030 edition marks the 100th year of the Commonwealth games, first held in Hamilton, Canada in 1930.
·
These games will feature an expanded lineup of 15–17 sports,
compared to the 10-sport format of
Glasgow, Scotland 2026 common wealth games.
·
Commonwealth Gamest is an international multi-sport event involving
athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations, a group of 56 countries, which were formerly
part of the British Empire.

The games are held once every four years.

11TH FIDE CHESS WORLD CUP 2025
·
The 11th edition of FIDE Chess
World Cup 2025 was held in Goa.

The tournament marks India hosting the event again after 23
years.

19-year-old Uzbekistan Grandmaster (GM) Javokhir Sindarov became
the youngest ever FIDE World Cupchampion
in 2025, defeating China’s Wei Yi in a rapid tiebreak
after two drawn classical games.

The event featured 206 participants from 82 countries.

The tournament followed an eight-round single-elimination knockout
format.

The FIDE Chess World Cup 2025
trophy was officially renamed the Viswanathan Anand Cup in

EXERCISE ‘SURYA KIRAN XIX’

The Indian Army (IA) and Nepal
Army (NA) commenced the 19th edition of the India-Nepal joint
military exercise ‘Surya Kiran 2025’ in Pithoragarh,
Uttarakhand.
·
The exercise is an annual
military exercise conducted between India
and Nepal, held alternately in the two countries.
·
The 18th edition of the Indo-Nepal joint
military exercise ‘Surya Kiran’ took place in January 2025 at Saljhandi, Nepal.
9. S&P Global Ratings
Retains India’s GDP at 6.5% for FY26
·
The Global ratings agency S&P Global
Ratings released its report “Economic Outlook
Asia-Pacific Q1 2026: Signs of relief”, retaining India’s Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) forecast at 6.5% for
Financial Year 2025-26 (FY26).

S&P further projects
India’s GDP growth to reach 6.7% in FY27.
·
Asia-Pacific Economic Outlook: Lower trade tariff
uncertainties, robust tech exports, and steady demand in the region have
prompted S&P to raise the 2026 GDP forecast from 4.0% in FY25 to 4.2%
in FY26.
·
The S&P Global Ratings has revised the inflation forecast to 2.5%
from 3.2% for FY 26.
·
However, the food inflation is expected to normalize
in the future and the inflation for FY27 is expected to be around 5%.
