1. TIME’S
100 MOST INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN SPORTS 2026

The 103-year-old global media brand TIME has
released the inaugural edition of “TIME
100 Most Influential People in Sports 2026” ilist, recognizing athletes, coaches, investors, and advocates
who have made a significant impact on the world of sports.
·
SmritiMandhana(Cricketer)
emerged as the only Indian featured on
the list.
·
She was included in the “Titans”
category alongside football stars Cristiano Ronaldo and ErlingHaaland, and
South African cricket captain Temba Bavuma.
·
The List has been divided into 04 different categories: Leaders, Icons,
Innovators, and Titans.
2. TRIPURA’S
TRIBAL MUSICAL INSTRUMENT ‘SARINDA’ SECURED GI TAG
·
The Geographical Indication Registry (GIR) granted
Geographical Indication (GI) tag to Tripura’s
tribal musical instrument ‘Sarinda’ also known as Sarinda Uakhrap.
·
Following
this latest recognition, the total
number of GI-tagged products from
Tripura now reaches 4.
·
The state has previously received GI tag
recognition for Tripura Queen Pineapple, Risha/Pachra (Rignai) and Matabari Peda.
3. BARCELONA-CATALUNYA
GRAND PRIX 2026
·
Lewis Hamilton won
the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix (Spanish Grand
Prix).
·
George Russell of Mercedes AMG Petronas finished second and Lando Norris of McLaren Mastercard finished
third marking the first all-British F1
podium since 1968.
4. WORLD
BLOOD DONOR DAY 2026 – JUNE 14
·
2026 Campaign: “One
Drop of Humanity. Give Blood. Save Lives.”
·
WBDD was first
observed on June 14, 2004.
·
World Blood Donor Day is observed on 14 June to commemorate the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, who discovered the ABO
Blood Group System.
5. GLOBAL
WIND DAY 2026 – JUNE 15
·
Global Wind Day,
also known as World Wind Day, is
observed annually on 15 June.
·
2026 Theme: “Our Wind, Our Community.”
·
World Wind Day was first observed in 2007 by the European
Wind Energy Association (EWEA).
·
The Government of India hosted the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa.
6. INTERNATIONAL
DAY OF FAMILY REMITTANCES 2026 – JUNE 16
·
The United Nations (UN)’s International Day
of Family Remittances (IDFR) is annually observed
across the globe on 16 June to acknowledge the
sacrifices of migrant workers who send money back to their families.
·
2026 Theme: “Remittances for Rural Resilience,
Entrepreneurship and Employment”.
·
IDFR was first observed on 16
June 2008 by IFAD in partnership with the World Bank.
7. NEW
SERIES OF WPI AND PPI WITH BASE YEAR 2022-23
·
The office of Economic Adviser under the Department
for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry
of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) released the revised
series of “Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and Producer Price Index
(PPI)” with base year 2022-23.
·
new WPI series will replace the existing 2011-12 base
year series.
·
It also
released a new series of Output Producer
Price Index (OPPI), Trial
Input Producer Price Index (IPPI) and Service PPI of seven services: Banking, Securities Transaction,
Insurance, Management of Pension Funds, Railways, Air (Passenger), and Telecom.
·
The
revised WPI (base year 2022–23) will continue to be published
alongside PPI for five years.
8. RBI
IMPOSES RESTRICTIONS ON MOGAVEERA CO-OP BANK
·
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed
several restrictions on Mogaveera Co-operative Bank
Limited (based in Mumbai) under direction for a period of 6
months.
·
As per
RBI, these restrictions imposed on the co-operative bank are effective from
closure of business i.e. on June 12, 2026.
·
RBI has also clarified that these directions should not be construed as
cancellation of the banking licence as the concerned bank will continue to
function under these specified restrictions.
·
RBI has directed the bank to allow maximum withdrawal of Rs 1 lakh from
savings bank or current accounts or any other account of a depositor.
9. SEBI
INTRODUCED REVISED FRAMEWORK FOR ETFS
·
The Securities and Exchange Board of
India (SEBI) revised the trading framework for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), introducing
dynamic price bands to
determine their base price.
·
Replacing
the existing fixed 20% price band based on the Net Asset Value (NAV) for equity ETFs
and debt ETFs, the revised framework introduced dynamic
price band (excluding overnight and liquid ETFs) with initial limit of 10%, which can later be expanded up to 20% after a cooling-off period.
·
The
price band will further be expanded by
5% increments if prices hit the upper threshold during the trading session.
·
For commodity
ETFs tracking gold and silver, the updated framework prescribed dynamic
price bands with an initial limit of ±6%, which
can be expanded in stages of 3%
following a cooling-off period based on market movements.
·
The revised
norms introduced a pre-open call auction mechanism specifically for
commodity ETFs to enhance better price discovery, while domestic ETFs trade
only during Indian market hours.
10. RBI
ISSUES MASTER DIRECTIONS ON AUTHORISATION TO OPERATE A PAYMENT SYSTEM

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)
issued the Master Directions on Authorisation to Operate a Payment System to establish a comprehensive framework for entities seeking to operate
payment systems under the Payment and Settlement Systems (PSS)
Act, 2007.
·
Payment System Operator
(PSO): An entity authorised by the RBI to operate a payment system that enables
clearing, payment, or settlement of funds between participants.
11. RBI
LAUNCHES ‘RBI REELATHON 2026’
·
RBI launched RBI Reelathon 2026,
a statewide cyber fraud awareness campaign across
approximately 150 colleges in Kerala that
promotes financial literacy, cyber hygiene, safe digital banking, smart
borrowing, and vigilance against emerging online financial threats through
student engagement and a reel-making competition.
·
The
initiative was inaugurated at the RBI Office, Thiruvananthapuram,
Kerala.

NSE INDICES ADDS 11 NEW
SECTORAL INDICES
·
National Stock
Exchange (NSE) Indices Limited, the index services subsidiary of
the NSE expanded its portfolio by introducing 11 new sector-specific indices,
expanding its total number to 34.
·
The
11 new indices are:Nifty Power, Nifty Capital Goods, Nifty
Telecommunications, Nifty Construction, Nifty Consumer Services, Nifty
Commercial & Transport Services, Nifty Retail, Nifty Hospitals, Nifty
Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), Nifty Housing Finance, Nifty Insurance.
13. NATIONAL
INDUSTRY PLATFORM ‘ARIFAC’ LAUNCHED
·
INDIA’S financial sector launched the
national industry platform ‘Alliance of Reporting Entities in AML/CFT (ARIFAC)’ to
strengthen the country’s Anti-Money
Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) ecosystem.
·
The
secretariat of ARIFAC is managed by the Payments
Council of India(PCI) and the Fintech Convergence Council(FCC).
·
The Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND) is
set to participate as an observer in the initiative.
