1.       INDIA & ISRAEL SIGNED BILATERAL INVESTMENT TREATY

·         The Government of India (GoI) has signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) with the Government of the State of Israel, aimed at bolstering bilateral investments as well as expanding relations between the two countries.

·         With this, Israel has become the 1st Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member state to sign this strategic agreement under India’s new model for investment treaty framework.

·         Indian investments in Israel are at USD 443 million dollars and Bilateral trade stood at USD 3.9bn in 2024, while current mutual investments are worth about $800m according to official source.

 


2.       INDIA’S FIRST BAMBOO-BASED BIO-REFINERY

·         Engineers India Limited (EIL), a ‘Navratna’ Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) has successfully completed the mechanical work for India’s 1st bamboo-based bio–refinery at Numaligarh, Assam.

·         This new bio-refinery is being executed for Assam Bio Ethanol Private Limited (ABEPL).

·         The refinery is developed using advanced technology provided by Finland’s Chempolis Oy.

·         The project is in alignment with the Government of India (GoI)’s Ethanol Blending Programme (EBP) and the national target to achieve energy security and Net-Zero emissions by 2070.

 

3.       ADISANKRITI- DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR TRIBAL ART FORMS

·         The Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Government of India (GoI) launched the Beta version of “AdiSanskriti” during the National Conference on AdiKarmayogiAbhiyan held in New Delhi

·         It is a digital learning platform dedicated to tribal art forms, focused on preserving cultural heritage, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and connecting India’s tribal communities with the global audience.

·         AdiSanskriti is Envisioned as the world’s first Digital University to preserve and promote the culture and traditional knowledge of tribal communities, and an online marketplace for the world to access products made by tribal artisans.

·         The platform integrates three major components: Adi Vishwavidyalaya (Digital Tribal Art Academy): It currently offers 45 immersive courses covering tribal dance, painting, crafts, music, and folklore.

·         AdiSampada (Socio-Cultural Repository): It comprises over 5,000 curated documents categorized into five themes: paintings, dance, clothing & textiles, artifacts, and livelihood.

·         AdiHaat (Online marketplace): Currently linked with TRIFED (Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited), this will evolve into a dedicated online marketplace for tribal artisans, enabling sustainable livelihoods and direct consumer access.

·         The AdiKarmayogiAbhiyan is a national movement to build a decentralized tribal leadership and governance ecosystem. 

·         It empowers 20 Lakh tribal changemakers across 1 lakh villages in 550 tribal-dominated districts through capacity building, convergence, and community participation.

 

4.       FAST-TRACK IMMIGRATION FACILITY AT 5 AIRPORTS

·         Union Minister Amit Shah, launched the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at five additional international airports

·         Lucknow International Airport, Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala; Kozhikode International Airport in Kozhikode, Kerala;Tiruchirappalli International Airport in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu(TN); and Amritsar International Airport in Amritsar, Punjab.

·         This expansion brings the total number of airports participating in the program t13, enhancing the convenience and efficiency of immigration processes for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) cardholders.

 

5.       SAMUDRA PRADAKSHINA’

·         Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD) flagged-off ‘Samudra Pradakshina’, world’s 1st ever tri-service all-women circumnavigation sailing expedition from the Gateway of India in Mumbai

·         The expedition comprises 10 women officers, including women officers from Indian Army (IA), 1woman officer from Indian Navy (IN) and remaining 4 women officers from Indian Air Force (IAF).

·         The expedition will sail onboard the Indian Army Sailing Vessel (IASV) Triveni, a 50 foot- Class A yacht indigenously-built vessel in Puducherry.

·         The team will cross the equator twice and sail around the 3 Great Capesi.e.Cape Leeuwin (in Australia); Cape Horn (in South America) and the Cape of Good Hope (in South Africa).

 

6.       44TH SCO-RATS MEETING

·         The 44th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s (SCO) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) Council was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.

·         India’s delegation led by Deputy National Security Advisor(DNSA) T.V. Ravichandran.

·         The RATS Council endorsed the Tianjin Declaration, adopted during the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.

·         Pakistan assumed the chairmanship of RATS

 

7.       INDIA PARTICIPATES IN ‘ZAPAD 2025’

·         India participated in the 9th edition of ‘Zapad’, the Russian-Belarusian joint strategic military exercise, held in Russia and Belarus

·         Zapad exercise (‘Exercise West’) is a series of military exercises conducted first by the Soviet Union and later by the Russian Federation, usually held once every four years.

·         Over 22 countries, including Belarus, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Republic of Congo, Mali, India, Iran, Niger, Tajikistan are the participants.

·         Countries such as Cambodia, China, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nicaragua, North Korea, Pakistan, Serbia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates(UAE), and Uzbekistan are observers of the exercise.

·         The Indian contingent comprises 65 personnel led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment along with troops from other arms and services.

·         Belarus Capital – Minsk

 

8.       NIRF RANKINGS 2025

·         Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Ministry of Education (MoE) released the 10th edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) i.e. NIRF Rankings 2025

·         The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M) has secured the top spot in the ‘overall category’ with an overall score of 87.31, for the 7th consecutive year (2019-2025).

·         It is followed by Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and IIT-Bombay (IIT-B) ranked at 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.

·         Tamil Nadu (TN) with 17 colleges, emerged as the most represented state in this year’s rankings, followed by Karnataka (6), Maharashtra (11), Delhi (8), among others.

·         IIT-M has also retained the top spot in ‘Engineering’ subject-domain category for the 10th consecutive year (2016-2025).

·         NIRF Launched in September 2015 by the Ministry of Education, it ranksinstitutions on five parameters: Teaching, Learning & Resources (30%), Research & Professional Practice (30%), Graduation Outcomes (20%), and Outreach & Inclusivity and Peer Perception (10% each).

9.       BEST FILM DIRECTOR AT VENICE FILM FESTIVAL

·         Indian filmmaker Anuparna Roy scripted history by winning the Best Director award in the ‘Orizzonti’ section at ‘82nd Venice International Film Festival’

·         She became the first Indian woman to win the award in this section.

·         She received this award for her debut feature ‘Songs of Forgetten Trees’, which showcases the evolving relationship between two migrant women in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

·         American indie film Father Mother Sister Brother, directed by Jim Jarmusch, won the Golden Lion for Best Film.

 

10.    SWACHH VAYU SARVESHAN AWARDS 2025:

·         Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change conferred best-performing cities under ‘Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2025’, a Clean Air Survey, was conducted in 130 cities under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). 

·         Indore (Madhya Pradesh, MP) is ranked as the best-performing city with a score of 200 in Category 1.

·         Indore and Udaipur were recognised as Wetland Cities under the Ramsar Convention.

·         The awards recognized 11 best-performing cities across three categories from the 130 NCAP cities for exhibiting their commitment and innovation in advancing the mission of clean air.

·         Indore, Amravati, and Dewas secured 1st rank in their respective categories of cities with populations over 10 lakhs, 3–10 lakh, and below 3 lakhs.

·         Out of the 11 cities, 3 cities are from MP, Uttar Pradesh (UP) (3), Himachal Pradesh (HP) (1), Gujarat (1), Rajasthan (1), Odisha (1), and Andhra Pradesh (AP) (1).
