P.V. NARASIMHA RAO MEMORIAL AWARD FOR ECONOMICS

Former
Prime Minister (PM) and Renowned Economist, Dr.
Manmohan Singh, has been posthumously conferred the PV
Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics
·
The
P.V. Narasimha Rao Memorial Award is an honour instituted to commemorate
former PM PamulapartiVenkata (P.V.) Narasimha Rao, whose tenure was from 1991
to 1996.
·
He is remembered as the “Father of Indian Economic Reforms”.

CHINA UNVEILED JL-1 BALLISTIC MISSILE
·
The People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF)
of China unveiled the Jinglei-1 (JL-1)
Air-Launched Ballistic Missile (ALBM)
during 2025 China Victory Day Parade
held at Tiananmen Square, Beijing (China), marking the first public display
of the air component of China’s nuclear
triad.

The JL-1 or JingLei-1, is a
nuclear-capable ALBM designed to be launched from H-6N bombers, equipped
with in-flight refueling capability.

Range: Approximately 8,000 kilometre (km)

11TH ACTCM BARGE-LSAM 25 (YARD 135)
·
Indian Navy (IN) successfully
launched the 11th Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum
Missile (ACTCM) Barge-Large Sized Ammunition/Missile barge(LSAM)
25 (Yard 135), in Thane,
Maharashtra.
·
In March 2021, the Ministry of
Defence (MoD) signed a MoU with Indian Micro, Small,
and Medium Enterprise (MSME), SPPL, for the
construction of 11 ACTCM Barges.

3D-ASR LANZA-N COMMISSIONED INTO INDIAN NAVY
·
Indra, a global aerospace
and defence technology company headquartered in Spain, in collaboration with Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), commissioned
the Lanza-N, India’s first indigenous Three Dimension Air Surveillance Radar (3D-ASR), into
the Indian Navy (IN) on its Indian Navy Ship (INS) Mysore.

It is one of the most advanced long-range
air defence and anti-missile radars.
·
The
radar, Lanza-N, provides 3D detection by measuring the distance,
direction, and altitude of the targets.
·
It
can detect targets at ranges of up to 256 nautical miles of
approximately 474 Kilometre (Km).

MEN’S HOCKEY ASIA CUP 2025
·
The 12th edition of
the Men’s Hockey Asia Cup 2025 held in Bihar.
·
The Indian men’s hockey team clinched
the title by defeating the defending
champion South Korea (4-1) in the finals.
·
The victory marks India’s fourth Asia
Cup title and qualified for the 2026
International Hockey Federation (FIH)
FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup (Netherlands and Belgium).
·
Malaysia’s
men’s
team defeated China to secure the Bronze
Medal (3rd place)
·

CAFA NATIONS CUP 2025
·
The 2nd edition of
the CAFA Nations Cup 2025, the biennial men’s football championship of Central Asia, was organized by the
Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), was held across venues in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
·
Hosts Uzbekistan defeated
the defending champion Iran (1 – 0) in the finals to
claim their first CAFA Nations Cup title.
·
This tournament featured 8 teams, including 6 CAFA members and 2 invitees (India and Oman)
·
Indian
national football team (led
by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu), making its debut appearance in the CAFA Nations Cup,
secured the bronze medal by defeating Oman 3-2 on penalties in a thrilling third-place
play-off that ended 1–1.
·
The victory marked India’s first-ever win over Oman in international football.
·
India,
ranked 133rd in FIFA rankings, stunned higher-ranked
Oman (79th).

MFIS’ DISBURSEMENTS REPORT
·
Gurugram based Microfinance Industry Network (MFIN) India, an umbrella
organisation of the
MicrofinanceInstitutions (MFIs), released the 54th edition of
Micrometer as on 30 June 2025 report.
·
The Asset Under Management (AUM) of
MFIs is Rs 1,34,574 cr as on 30 June 2025, including
owned portfolio Rs. 1,11,849 cr
and managed portfolio of Rs. 22,725 cr.
·
AUM decreased by 16.4% compared
to 30 June 2024 and decreased by 5.4% compared to 31 March 2025.
·
The
client base also contracted
from 4.5 crto 3.8crcompared to
the same period last year.
·
The
average loan amount disbursed per account during Q1 FY
25-26 was Rs 54,956, reflecting an increase of approximately 16.5% compared to
the same quarter of the previous financial year.
10.
SEBI NOTIFIES EASIER DELISTING RULES FOR PSU
·
The
market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), introduced
special relaxations for Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in
which the government already
holds 90% or more equity.
·
SEBI has provided relaxations from the requirement of a two-thirds threshold
for approving delisting by public shareholders and in the mode of computation
of the floor price.
·
The
traditional reverse book-building (RBB)
mechanism has been replaced with a fixed
price approach, provided certain valuation conditions are met.
·
The
SEBI stated that the new rule applies to
PSUs, excluding banks,
Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs),
and insurance companies, where the government holds a 90% or greater stake.
·
The PSUs can
now delist at a fixed price, provided it is at least 15% above
the floor price (FP), regardless of recent trading activity in the stock.
·
Earlier, the minimum allotment lot
for privately placed
InvITs in the primary market was either Rs. 1 crore(cr) or Rs. 25
cr, based on the asset composition.

and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s International Literacy
Day (ILD), observed globally every year on 8
September

2025 Theme: “Promoting Literacy
in the Digital Era.”
·
The idea of celebrating ILD was first
proposed during the inaugural World Congress of Ministers of Education on the
Eradication of Illiteracy, held in Tehran, Iran in 1965.
·
In 1966, the UNESCO General
Conference at its 14th session in Paris, France, adopted Resolution and officially
proclaiming 8 September of every year as ILD.

Himachal Pradesh(HP) became

Himalaya Diwas, or Himalaya Day, is observed annually across India on 9
September to highlight the significance of the Himalayan mountain
range and its ecosystem.
